TC35A 3 pt won't raise

I am a newbie to tractors, so forgive me if I sound like one. I have a NH TC35A with a BH 2346QT FEL. While raking my front yard (still doing Katrina clean-up), I ran over a branch, which caught the 2 hydraulic lines frmo the back of the engine to the FEL joystick. The 2 fittings on the pump housing snapped off. I immediately shut it down and got two more fittings. After putting on the new fittings and putting almost 3 gallons of fluid in it, the FEL works fine, but the 3 pt won't raise unless I run the FEL. The fluid level looks fine, and I have raised and lowered the FEL many times, but I still can't the 3 pt to raise. Hate to sound dumb, but any ideas? I appreciate any help.

Thanx for the reply. The 2 fittings that broke were the two at the back of the housing (one on top of the other). I didn't try reversing them. Think that might be the problem?

Look for other damage as well.. perhaps at any valve bodies... Any way for you to check a similar machine to see if you have the lines int he correct ports? I'm not familiar with your plumbing on that tractror.. but in my mind I can come up with at least one way to make your problem happen, depending on how your hyds for the laoder are plumbed..

Steering affected any? or does this have it's own power steering pump?

I just got a schematic for the 2346 FEL hydraulics. I won't be able to check it against my lines until this weekend. I'll also look again for other damage as well; I didn't see any the first time. Thanx for everyone's help. I'll keep y'all posted.

Chip, your tractor is not a factory OEM FEL, so it may be plumbed differently from most of our tractors. Does your PTO still work? The PTO clutch is hydraulically actuated.

In your post, you said lines at the back of the engine to the FEL joystick. Then you said you replaced lines to the pump. I'm confused. The lines to the joystick should not be the lines going to the pump. The pump supplies a pressure regulator and diverter valve under the right side of the operator's platform. From the diverter valve, the fluid then goes to the FEL, 3PH, and PTO. I have some pictures of the standard NH OEM setup with a 16LA loader, but your plumbing could be different. I'll post a couple of pictures.

The 1st picture shows the lines from the joystick that go under the platform to the loader quick connects. Below these three lines is the diverter valve. Is this where you replaced lines or did you replace the lines going up to the pump? The second picture shows the pump on the engine all the way to the joystick. neither of these is exactly like your tractor because yours has a Bushog FEL and it's not a hydro transmission. The hydraulics though, should be similar.

Problem solved! I had connected the 2 lines that snapped off to the wrong places. Once I switched them around, 3 pt worked great. My thanx to everyone who contributed to this part of my education. BTW, the NH TC35a (68 hours) with Bush Hog 2346QT FEL is for sale for $16000. I am getting a Kubota L4330 with extra toys delivered tomorrow.
