You guys seem to know your stuff; additional question,,, my PTO lever when new of course had full 100% through from off (back position) to on (forward position) Over the last several years it would only engage around 85% forward,,, and now at about 50% .... also on ocassion lately it got to where at 0% the PTO still turns...
Of course now I'm where I started this thread... pump is out
Did I miss what is wrong with your pump? Is it leaking fluid into the engine or is it making bad noises?
I'm a little confused about what you are saying for the PTO lever. Are you saying it used to engage as soon as you moved the handle, but now you have to move 50% of the slot length to get engagement? That sounds to me like clutch wear, but it could also relate to a bent lever. If your PTO engages and doesn't slip, I would not worry too much. If it slips under heavy load and/or doesn't stop turning when it is disengaged, that could be a problem. Edit: I see you said it turns even when disengaged. That's not good and may indicate a worn clutch/brake assy.
