Brickman, as the fluid warms, the whining does go down in volume a bit. Also, downshifting to a lower range reduces whining. The harder the HST works, the more it whines. Some have reported that using synthetic hydraulic fluids reduces whine. I don't know, but I do know that New Holland Multi-G 134 fluid produces less whine than some substitutes I've tried (like TSC's brand). I live in Texas and don't use my tractor on a regular basis in cold weather, so I may not be the best reference for whine reduction. I can tell you that synthetic fluid is very expensive, so you have to decide if getting rid of some whine is worth the extra cost.
