hey - I have an oppurtunity to purchase a 2003 TC35D w/ 16la loader and 758 c backhoe with roughly 350 hrs for $19000- For the same price I could get a 33da and loader new- both are hydro-I am using this to clear out about 1 acre of soft horse area which gets very mucky all year round- I now have a 2 wheel drive massey that is always getting bogged down in the pasture- Also to open up the brook behind my property which closes up over the summer- I am thinking that the 35 is to much for my use but can you get to much tractor?? thanks- gary

I had to make the same decesion months ago. I had been tractor shopping for a year and had my choice narrowed down to a new TC-33D with 14LA loader with 757-C backhoe, or a new Kubota 3130 with 723 FEL and backhow BH90. Well along came a used 2003 TC-35D with 16LA loader/ with toothbar, 757-C backhoe, and a canopy with 85 hours on it. I choose the used TC-35D just because of the extra size and weight. I'm clearing land for a pond and have some very large trees to skid. I thought the extra weight would be an advantage. If you have horse stalls to clean, or trees to mow around the TC-33 may be a better choice since it is smaller in size. It all depends on what you want to do with the tractor. They are both excellent machines.

Good luck with your purchase !

On edit: The only complaint I have with my set up is the reach of my backhoe. I also clean out a small stream periodically. Just a foot or two more reach would really help. I would go with the larger tractor and add the biggest backhoe that would fit.

Is the physical size of either tractor an important factor in your decision? For instance, will you need to get the tractor underneath low-hanging trees or under a low shed door?

I had the chance to use a TC35D the other week. I parked the TC35D beside my Ford 1520 (which is similar in size to the TC33). I was surprised by the difference in size between the two. The TC35 is considerably taller and longer than the 1520.

I had always felt that I would not even consider the TC33 as a replacement for the 1520 because I preferred the larger frame tractor. Seeing the two tractors side-by-side made me reconsider my earlier thoughts. The TC35 is shockingly bigger. Now, I would definitely consider both a TC33 and a TC35.

The TC35 had the optional SuperSteer axle, making it VERY manueverable in tight quarters. The optional SuperSteer axle will be on the next tractor, no matter the tractor's size.

W/ a backhoe.. run and get the 35 before someone else does!

I would go with the used tractor with the Backhoe! I have a TC33D no loader or backhoe and love it. I also have a Kubota B20 with backhoe and loader. I love using the backhoe. You will get a lot more for your money in used machines. 300 hours is nothing.

That backhoe builds in about 3000 - 4000$ worth of 'equity' into the used tractor deal. Unless the combo is abused.. it is by far a better price deal... Course it is out of warranty.. your call. Keep in mind that tractors don't depreciate like cars.. especially not CUT / SCUT units. That built in equity would pay for a decent sized repair.. and you'd still be ahead of the game on hp and money..
