Snow TC35D Will Not Start Help (Snow is Piling up).

My TC35D will not turn over. When I turn the key it sounds like the starter is not as loud as it usually sounds or that their is not enough power to turn her over. I tried jump starting but the same sounds occured. How much for a starter or any other advice as to what to try or do..

I would clean and tighten the battery cables on both ends. One of the most common problems, is the ground end that connects to engine block.

That is exactly what I would like to know.

It's been my experience that if you have a dead or weak battery, or coroded cables/bad ground.. that the application of the jumper cables and donor battery doesn't do much good.. unless you have big thick honkin cables made from .. welder leads or similar.. just not enough capacity.

Post more details.. like what does a vom say about the battery when cranking.. or try turning onthe headlamps then cranking.. if they go out / dim.. you have a power delivery problem.. a la battery / cable / connection.. etc.

Like Soundguy already posted above. Check battery (maybe weak), check battery connections for corrosion, also check battery cables that they make good connection to the clamp.

If your starter is turning the engine over, but just not fast enough, it might be related to how cold it is. Is your tractor stored outside or in an unheated area? You could have a bearing binding in the motor or something else causing the starter to drag. Because you said you attempted a jumpstart and it didn't help, a dragging starter might be considered. Is there any way to warm up the tractor? I've used a kerosene heater to warm up a tractor. You could use a hair dryer, but that will take a lot of heating. The best thing is one of the turbo heaters if you have one available.

This is all just a guess and a stab in the dark. It's pretty hard to say what the problem is when you can't hear it or test it. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Everyone has given you some good advice. This is just the only thing I can think to add considering your saying the engine is turning over but slowly.
