After owning/operating a 1520 Hydro for over 10 years, I recently upgraded to a new TC35DA (hydro with FEL & backhoe). Despite the increased horsepower, I have been surprised by the lack of power in the loader. I have found that the loader doesn't have enough power to lift or curl loads of loose sand or plowed snow (running at >2500 rpm). I have had to overcome this problem by backing out of the load until I have enough power to lift/curl. I have also been surprised by the extremely slow reverse speed of the tractor. I don't know if these problems are related, but am looking to the group for advice on whether this is normal or requires dealer service.

Missing my old 1520...

Peter,

I am not sure if your tractor has the adjustment like the TC25, 29 and 33 have? I think you have the two pedal system but yet may have an adjustment on it. Mine came from the factory that way too, really slow in reverse but I found the adjustment and turned it up. I used my GPS to verifty the speed. Yeah I was out in the street backing my tractor up with a GPS in my hand. I am sure my neighbors thought I was nuts.

Where is the adjustment located?

My TC-35D will lift heaping buckets full of wet crush and run and 57 gravel all day long with no problems at all. I have heard of problems occuring with lift capacity if the quick couplings are not seated properly. With tractor engine off and bucket sitting flat on the ground move you joystick thru all positions to relieve any trapped pressure. Disconnect and inspect all of your coupling. When you re-connect the couplings make sure they are secured correctly.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on your findings.

Might want to check your pressures with a guage or have the dealer do it. I have heard some are low from the factory.

Murph; If I remember right ; when you ajust for a faster reverse you loose forward speed. Is that true? My tc 29 ran slow in reverse compared to the 1320 I had. Dealer ajusted reverse speed up but it ran slower forward ; which was no big deal.

My forward I did not do any adjustments to. I did check the speed with my GPS. My reverse was way slow and I adjusted it up quite a bit but still was not as fast as what the book said I should get out of it. But I still had some adjustment yet to it but felt it was fast enough. But my forward did not slow that I could tell, but I never went back to check it.

I assumed the adjustment was valve movement. Where is the adjustment valve? I assume from your reply there are two adjustment controls.

Could you give details on how you make the adjustment? Thanks.

I'd also like to adjust my 33DA for a faster reverse if it does not affect the warranty. As for as the fel hydraulic power, mine surprises me with the strength of it. Tuesday evening, I was moving some tallow trees, that hurricane Rita had laid over. They don't have much of a root system, but they were of pretty good size. I only have 27 hrs., but each time I use it, I get braver, & tackle bigger stuff. I LIKE my tractor!!!!!!!
