i'm looking to purchace a tc40, 4 wheel, gear, FEL.. I plan on mowing, small amount of discing and plowing (deer food plots). I plan on getting 1 set of rear remotes for my 3pt log splitter . what other options should I be looking at

I got 3 hooks welded on the bucket and I also added all 3 available rear remotes in case they were needed in the future. Armrests, block heater?

Block heater (depending on climate)
Grille Guard (the lights are in excess of $100 to replace)
Extra Lights on rear and/or ROPS.
Loaded rear tires
skid steer quick attach on the FEL
quick attach pallet forks
heavy duty bucket (72")
tooth bar if you plan any digging

I'd at least consider the hydrostatic trans - very simple to use (although it looks like you have gear trans experience based on your sig), helps resale value.

Welcome to TBN,

Well....since BlueToy1 & Hazmat have pretty much covered all the basics ....how bout a Cab if you can swing it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Do you plan on mowing around homestead. If so, are you getting R4's ?? How much property are you planning on discing, plowing ? If you are considering Ag tires for these tasks might not go over so well on lawn care !

thanks for all the NEW ideas on what I may need. I'm not 100% sold on the NH. So far I've liked the NH over what I've looked at. I'll be mowing approx. 15 ac. tilling about 2 ac.

Maybe can you look at the tc 48 da?
otherwise i think you will have a good chose and the hydro is no need. Only think when you are doing a lot of changing direction increase the rpm this will protect your clutch after a long time.
But this is very easy to do
Set the rpm at 1200 or at 1500 and use your foot to give more rpm
But when you use it you will discover on your own.

Randy, welcome to TBN and the NH forums. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

If you are looking for ease of adjusting your implements when plowing, you might consider an extra hydraulic remote. Having a hydraulic toplink and sidelink (tilt) are really handy on the new tractors with the high platform. The advantage of older tractors where you straddled the running gear was that you could just turn in the seat and adjust the toplink or the tilt of the plow. Now there is no way to reach those from the operator's seat, so you have to stop and get off the tractor. By putting a hydraulic cylinder in place of the toplink and also the side link, you have what we call TnT or top and tilt. You can make all adjustments right from the operator's platform by using the remote valve controls. The initial cost is pretty high, but I personally think it's worth every penny.

The only other thing I can think of is the adjustable length lift arms. If your tractor does not have them, you can order them as an option. They sure make hooking up to an implement much easier.

Hazmat mentioned most of the items I would consider. I will just add my vote for all those things he listed.

I purchased a TC40DA last spring, moving from a '64 Ford 4000. A also have Cub Lo-Boy and I mow about 5 acres, have 10 in native grass (bush hog some years) and plow about 2 acres for food plot/fire break. I ordered a loader, backhoe, one set of remotes and seat arms. The remotes are for my 3pt splitter. I also have a zero-turn mower for the 5 acres

I love the hydro, especially for bush hog work. My old Fords (I had an 8N at one time) didn't have enough gears to match PTO and ground speeds. It is perfect for loader work too. It worked great for plowing. The only issue I had was using it with a spreader. I needed a speedometer - and I'm working on adding one right now. I would drive a hydro around the lot. It does take some getting used to, but I sure wouldn't go back to gears.

If you don't get the "deluxe" model, spring for the seat and the extending 3pt arms that are part of the hydro package. I enjoy the arm rest on long mowing jobs.

Jim is right about the 3pt arm adjustment. It is a pain and I'll add TnT some day. If you can swing for all three remotes, I would do that.

My dealer doesn't like loaded tires. He gave me rear weights for half off. You can read the pros/cons elsewhere, but the weights have worked well. He also added a block heater, which you will need.

This is a great tractor. I'll be happy to talk about it all day. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Its already been mentioned, but the quick attach feature was the best addition to our 40D. We switch from bucket to pallet forks quite often and the QA makes it a breeze.
