3-Point Hitch TC40D 3pt doesn't lift with a load

I was snow plowing with my back blade when all at once the 3pt Hitch refused to lift the blade. No warning signs before hand. The FEL works fine and the hydraulic oil full. When I removed the back blade the lift arms moved up and down freely by hand (engine off). The arms rose slowly when the engine is running. There are no other unusual symptoms. Any ideas?

Do you have rear remotes on the machine? If a rear remote is pushed to a detent the 3PH won't lift.


With a loader, another possibility is described by RickB in: 3pt hitch won't raise that will cause the same problem.

My money is on what Chris suggested. Do you have a remote controlling a hydraulic chute rotator. If it is slightly out of position, that could cause the problem. A little condensation and freezing in the remote could cause it to stick.

The fact that your FEL works says that your hydraulics are working fine, something blocking flow to the 3PH and my bet is it will be remotes.

Thanks for the advice, Jim and Chris. I do have a rear remote and the tractor has been out in some nasty freeze and thaw weather. I'll check it out this weekend and let you know what I find.
