Thanks for the solenoid trick. I checked it out and the solenoid is "clicking" when I disconnect and reconnect the wire with the ignition turned on. Seems this one is going to be tougher than usual.

Well, forget the interlocks and electrical problems. If the fuel solenoid is operating, you have a fuel delivery problem. It may have seemed like it stopped too quickly, but it's either the fuel line is clogged, has a slug of water in it, or the injection pump quit working. I'd start with the filter. Indeed, this has become tougher. Sorry Tom.:(

I had a new fuel filter clog after only 15 hours of operation. I removed it, inspected it, it looked clean. Tested it in the cleaned out bowl, with new fuel. Would not flow. Replaced it with a new one. All was fine. When I was buying several new ones to have in stock after using my last new one. Another feller at the dealer counter said he has had the same problem also. Another new filter solved his problem also. Go figure....

On my latest TN I parked it one night running fine. The next morning it cranked fine but would not start. Called dealer who made a road trip and changed out fuel selonoid and filter. No help. Some how the injector pump had died overnight with no prior indications.

Our TC40DA just quit the other day. My 14 year old was moving pallets of seed. It quit DEAD. It would turn over but no go. He found the saftey switch under the seat was in place, but on the bottom the seat itself there is a spacer that is riveted on, or was, it had fallen off. (I think it is worth about a 1/2 or 3/4 inch of space) Since it had fallen off, the bottom of the seat could not reach the saftey switch even when I sat on it. Since the saftey switch was not telling the electronics that someone was sitting on the seat, the tractor would not start.... Fixed now! The TC40 is the smallest tractor on our farm. I am sure glad that it works as well as it does. It really saves us a lot of work. Tim

Just a WAG here.. but Jinman ( or others ).. does this unit use an electric 'charge/lift' pump to supply pressure/flow to the injector pump?

If so that line can be pulled to see if the lift pump is doing it's job.

I had a fuel tap on my 7610s clog and it was similar to this.. though it did not die as fast... would crank fine and restart after a few minutes and fuel had dribbled past the clogged tap.. etc.. then would die again.

All,

Thanks for the help on this. I got it started yesterday. First, I pulled the fuel filter and checked all the lines for flow. Second, I checked all the wiring around the seat switch, neutral switch, and brake switch. There was a connector on the left side fender that had come apart and I reconnected it, but I'm not sure what it was for. After I was done, it fired right up. Given that the solenoid was clicking I'm assuming it was cleaning out the fuel system that did the trick.

Thanks again,

A good guess, but no lift pump in this system. It's just gravity flow Chris.

TOM:My guess is that your fiter did the trick. Glad you are back in business. It doesn't really matter what it was as long as you fixed it. Of course, you can verify the seat switch is working now by standing up with the engine running and seeing if it dies and then repeat with the parking brake set. Remember, the parking brake handle has to be set. Just stepping on the brake is not enough to keep the engine running.
