I have the following routine for hooking up something like a finish mower
(1) Drop the lift arms below the hook up point
(2) Hook up left arm first. The arm can easily be lifted to desired point for hookup.
(3) Hook up right arm. Winding adjustment will handle needed adjustment.
(4) Hook up drive shaft. In the past I have used a bar to turn the drive shaft if needed. The last time I turned the tractor pto by hand. Assumed I learned something since it was easy to do. I always get my hands greasy anyway. I noticed others said they could not turn the pto by hand. I called myself doing that although mine is a DX 33 hydro stat.
(5) Hook up the top link and and adjust everything straight and level.
