I have had my TC40D for years. LA17 loader and also have the backhoe.
Have been thinking about replacing it, and think I will go with a cab tractor now.
Have looked at both the Boomer 55 and the JD 4066R. As near as I can tell, these are about the same size as my TC40.
One feature that I cannot replace is the super steer. New Holland does not offer that feature on their smaller tractors any more.
I have known a few of you that have posted on here for years that have the TC series tractors and hope you can chime in.
I will purchase the tractor, loader and backhoe. Will have 3rd, 4th, and 5th remotes with power beyond for backhoe. Quick attach skid steer ready.
From what I can tell, the JD backhoe is the easier of the two to hook up, and possibly the strongest.
Price is really not a factor as the two have been priced out within a few thousand dollars of each other.
I have watched all the youtube I can find and there are some complaints about the 4066R, but seem to be isolated and for the most part resolved.
Yes, have considering all the other factors such as dealers, locations, etc., but for purposes of this post, just really interested in experience with these tractors, or another that would be similar and comparable.
The New Holland hp is 55, which is the largest they offer in this size tractor. JD is 66 hp and is a 4 cylinder. JD does offer the 52hp. However, looking for that step up because the TC40 has struggled at times with some of its tasks.
Thanks in advance for your remarks.

To the best of my knowledge, the JD4066R loader has a regen only dump feature. If this affects you or not only you would know.

Have you considered an LS XR4155C instead of the New Holland? I would guess that there would be a substantial cost savings.

Good luck with your decision. ;)

There is one ls dealer near me. Don't know much about the company or tractor. I have bought off brands in the past. One such purchase was a colossal headache resulting in legal and ultimately refund. Not sure I want to go outside main stream on this.
Not sure what you mean by regen dump.

Okay. Regen meaning filling both sides of dump cylinders?

Correct, great for dumping the bucket and not getting floppy bucket syndrome, not so good for exerting any pressure downward at the lip of the bucket using the curl function.

I think ultimately you just learn to use the loader in a different way (using the lift circuit more often) to achieve the same results.

I'm pretty sure the New Holland Boomers are rebadged LS tractors made in Korea. They usually have Japanese engines. Check the plate to see where it's made. There may be no difference at all between the New Hollands and LS except for potentially some cost savings.

The Deere's are made in Mexico and have Japanese Yanmar engines.

You mentioned you wanted the higher HP because your TC40 struggled with some of its tasks... Can you explain where it fell short?

I just checked my 2015 boomer 54d and it's made in Mexico with a fiat engine.

My mistake, thanks for pointing that out. I know some other models of New Holland were built in other places. Hard to keep track of who makes what anymore without doing a lot of research.

It might have something to do with the cvt transmission on mine. Gear and hydro may still be LS made. Hard to keep up is right.
