How do you TC40DA owners like the two pedal HST? I currently have a TC33D and I like the tractor but not the treadle pedal. Been looking at JD 3320s since I have a bad hip and the JD two pedal system is easier to operate.

Also, does the NH site have list pricing on this tractor?

Thanks
Bob

As a taller operator, I had a hard time with the treadle pedal systems - especially with going in reverse. My knees were so far forward I had a hard time dorsiflexing my foot to get reverse.

I love the two pedal system, but I had no prior tractor experience to unlearn.

Love it! The two separate pedals on our TC40D makes prolonged reversing much easier in my book. We have the treadle pedal on our Toro lawn/garden tractor and reverse gets tiresome after a while...especially when you have Carharts, Heavy boots and are partially frozen while blowing snow for 3 hours! :D Any tractor that we purchase in the future I would want it to have the two separate pedals for forward and reverse...it's that easy and intuitive for those operators that don't run the unit frequently.

I think two pedals are fine, but I could also get used to a single treadle too. Since I have the two pedals, I like them. What is most important about the two pedals in my estimation is that the brake pedals are moved to the left side of the tractor and the clutch is non-existant. Being able to easily do differential braking and never worry about a clutch is a big, big plus in my book.

My TC40DA was my first HST so I can't compare to a single pedal. But it sure seemed easy and natural to me. It is great tractor.

I am tall(6'8"), and the two pedal HST system(coupled with the joystick mounted rabbit/turtle system) is very good. I use my tractor for precision placement of equipment, and the ability to stop the tractor by simply lifting one's foot is very useful. I have not found it the least bit uncomfortable changing directions(which means moving ones foot).

I test drove the treadle system, and I personally, did not like it.

I also have the SS option on mine. I have yet to use the brakes for turning, and I have found the ability to shift the front end left and right approximately 2" while keeping the tractor still is very useful. Using the HST on one side of the tractor, and the directional brakes on the other is likely beyond my coordination ability:rolleyes:

Chris, if you ever use your bucket to backdrag with down-pressure, you may get your front wheels in the air and lose all ability to steer. In that case, just remember that the right pedal will make the tractor go right and the left pedal will make the tractor go left...and the bucket will swing in just the opposite direction...never mind. This may be too confusing.;)

I would not want the single pedal at all. My ankles don't flex very easy to dig my heel back on the single peddle. I have the 2 pedal system and I am glad I do. I have done a lot of dirt work with it and it makes it easier to use. I also get less fatigued using it.

Jim,

I am a chemical engineer because I can't draw a straight line. The little dirt work I have done has similar characteristics.

I haven't done much dirtwork yet, but when I do, I will be sure to remove all vehicles from the immediate vicinity.;)
