Okay. I've about had it. Been finish mowing the upper 6 acres with a 48" Wheel Horse Garden tractor. It works great, but on a good day, it takes a 7 hours, without stopping (except for gas). I'm 6'4" tall, 260lbs. The contractors just laugh at me! And I can hardly walk after I get off. With all the rain we've been getting lately, seems like all I do is mow -- And we don't even live there yet!

The house and pole building are under construction. House won't be done till next year, but the pole building should be done by the end of the month (June). Will be plenty of room for the NH/Case and attachments and I'll be able to lock it up. It bothers me some to store it there with no one living there yet, but the farmer we bought the land from is farming the other 10 acres and we've got a good friendship started, so I know he'll keep an eye on things for me.

Anyway, that's a long winded way of getting into why I'm posting this. I want to get your guys input on the specs for my new, very own, first ever, real tractor! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I have 3 primary needs - that I know of today /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif : Finish Mowing, Bush hogging, and some loader work. Who knows where we'll go from there!

Money matters! But I want to avoid dumb omissions!! Here goes:

Tractor - TC or DX 40 ($$ will determine which one)

1) Tranny - I'm thinking hydro, but I'd be interested in the pros/cons for a shuttle shift. Shifting gears and working a clutch don't bother me. My pick-up is a stick. My most frequent job will be finish mowing (about 7 acres, once the house and grading are done). If I go shuttle, then the option list grows, I think, but assume it's a TC/DX40DA, for now.
2) Sunshade
3) 2 Rear Remotes
4) Top and Tilt
5) Drawbar for towing an 8X10, 10K utility dump trailer I own.
6) Don't think I need Super Steer

Loader

1) 16LA or 17LA? Pros/Cons?
2) QA 6' bucket
3) 2 welded hooks
4) Toothbar
5) Pallet Forks

RFM

1) 84" Woods or Land Pride. (for 7 acres). Wish I could afford an 11' flex mower - but I can't!

Bush Hog

1) 72" Woods or Land Pride (for 10 acres)

That about covers it. What have I missed? Any factory deals coming soon?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts and advice!

Almost forgot. Tires would be R4's, loaded. Land is a bit hilly in places.

Thanks.

Nice choice, great tractor.

I have spent some time with EHSS, works very nicely. HST is great too. Try both and then decide.

I have the TC40A and get along great with SS tranny. even w/loader work. I believe the 16LA is for the gear tranny and the 17LA for HST with super steer, I think. I would also suggest the deluxe 3pt (it's an option) if you get the TC40A. Get ready to enjoy
