I stoped at a New Holland dealer today, never thought I would, but I looked at a TC45 and i got a price quote with a loader for 25,000. That seems high to me. Can you get the gear drive with the rubber floor mats and the nice things like the TC45D? Or do you have to buy the deluxe? Thanks Cliff

how much more is the TC45D than the TC45?

Last June I was quoted $19,880 for a TC40 w/loader, block heater, deluxe 3pt hitch (telescoping arms, etc) and folding ROPS. A TC40D w/loader & block heater was $21,550 (the other stuff is standard on a "D").

If you back out the extras on the TC40, it's about a $2000 difference. I would figure the TC45 / TC45D would be a similar spread.

Cliff, a TC45D with loader should not be more than about $22,000 or at most, $22,700. The "D" option adds about $2,800 to the Class III Boomers (TC35,40,45). Was the loader the NH 16LA and did the tractor have supersteer? The price you stated is about right for a TC45D+Loader+Supersteer in some locations. Otherwise, the price is very high. Hope this helps.

JimI.

I just got a quote today for a TC45 with Syncrhoshuttle, 4WD, Block Heater, folding ROPS, Grill Guard, 16LA HD Loader (72"), Ag Tires front and rear for $22,605. Am I getting hosed?

Thanks

BigErn, I would not say you are "getting hosed," but I think you could get a better deal. Like the car companies, I think when the interest rates go down, the dealers try to move up in price to compensate. If you are paying cash, or a very short financing contract like 12 months, I think you should make the dealer an offer and see what they will do. When I went into my dealer, I told him my price and he actually beat it by $100. Do all the research you can and go shopping around for other models. Don't hide the fact that you are comparing prices.
Anyhow, here are the exact prices on my TC45D which I got in Feb. 2001. Tractor (hydro + 1 remote valve) $18,200, 16LA loader (HD 72" bucket) $3,750. Total - $21,900. I made a $5,000 down payment and financed the rest at 6.9% for 36 months. In Texas, farm use tractors do not pay sales tax. I bought the tractor during the Fort Worth Stock Show, so I got a special $500 discount.

That's the facts, and again, I don't think you are getting "hosed" but I think you could do a little better on your prices. If you are getting a low interest rate, you can expect the base cost of the machine to be higher, IMHO. Hope this helps.

Jim,
So I should not pay more than 24,000 for a TC45D with loader? I have another question, what is the dual power thing, or what does it do? Looks fun/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. Cliff

Cliff, $24,000 is a good price for a TC45D+loader+supersteer. If you doesn't have supersteer, I'd just tell the dealer $22,500 is my top price. If he wants to sell a tractor, he'll take your offer. If not, then you have to decide just how much you want to give. Now, if the tractor he is talking about has supersteer, I'd say take the deal with a smile on your face./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I think the "dual-power" thing you are talking about must be the electronic "rabbit/turtle" selection. I don't know how I ever got along without it. The tractor has two speed ranges (high and low) which are a gear ratio selection (you have to stop the tractor to change). The turtle/rabbit is a rocker switch on the right fendor console and also two buttons on your joystick. When pressed, it changes the hydrostatic motor's ratio by a very simple process. That means when doing loader work and approaching your dirt pile, you simply hit the turtle switch and you have maximum power. As you back away from the pile, you can touch rabbit and move more rapidly, but with less power. It's one of the neatest features of my tractor.

Jim,
I like that feature If i was to go with a New Holland I would get that feature, but it comes with the Deluxe right? New Holland would be the only Hydro I would get. Cliff

Yeah, it's kind of a "catch-22" with the New Holland. You can't get a hydro without getting the "D" model option. Yesterday I pushed over about 20, 4" to 8" diameter oak trees in low range, so the TC45D has plenty of power. It's just the perfect combination of power and size for me, so I always end my jobs with a smile on my face. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
