Jim,
I think my list is similiar, and I didn't search for duplications between your list and mine.
I have a .txt file that lists all the problems (that didn't seem like one-time occurances) that were described since 2001 when I joined TBN. My text file was great since I could cut&paste the problem description along with links to the "definitive solution" threads, however with the forum upgrade last year none of my old links work.
I also have had less success with the new search function, so the work of trying to re-establish current links outweigh the benefits to me, but I will on occasion search again and find the old links (like the thermostat picture above) to help somebody.
This is the list I was following:
1. Battery offgasing causing corrosion around battery and cooler. ( Some of us have gone to sealed batteries ala Optima)
2. No-joy joystick breaking at the screw hole for handle. New part engineered differently and fixes the problem.
3. Low-temp running due to flow bypass at common coolant drain line. I think this solution just covers up for the occurance of #4.
4. Low-temp running due to defective thermostat with "dingle-ball" that jams and keeps thermostat open.
5. Coolant leak at fitting adjacent to oil filter ( Requires new part or reinstallation with high grade thread sealant )
6. Sticky/sluggish hydro pedals. Operating at higher RPM helps, and there is a repair kit with higher tension springs available.
7. Water getting into tilt-wheel mechanism/piston causing failure.
8. Starter fuse (7.5 Amp) blowing, PTO light remains on, repair is replacement of fuse with an 8 Amp circuit breaker.
9. Instrument panel fogging up. Mentioned multiple times in multiple threads. Mostly an annoyance. No specific fix ever described - some owners have had the panel replaced.
10. HST pedal plate inadequately welded (JInman's Syndrome)
11. Lower 3-pt arms made low-grade steel, bending under load, especially with backward movememtns. Being replaced under warranty by New Holland, involves serial numbers < g508677.
11. Sudden failure of Transmission Hydraulic Pump, resulting in no HST motion and no PTO rotation, yet engine runs well. Relates to coupling between the engine and the transmission charge pump. (DocHeb's syndrome)
12 HST pops out of gear going downhill (part of a recall by NH of ~1600 early production Class III Boomers).
13. Leaking hydrostatic test ports on transmission casing (below the tractor seat), caused by lack of thread sealant.
14. A 'pth, pth, pth noise" or chatter from HST Cooler Check Valve (located on the top of the HST Filter ) - a "normal noise that occurs when the HST oil is cool." No repair is necessary.
15. Leak in Class III hydraulic oil coolers at hose bib attachment to top of cooler. Re-engineered cooler resolves the problem.
16. PTO Brake problems for serial numbers after G524944 to approximately G604974, recall campaign 000250.
17. Loss of 4WD in Class III Boomers:
Lock nut for pinion gear in front gearcase not secured properly, causing sudden loss of 4WD.
18. Cold weather blowout of the "O-ring" on the hydro filter (all Boomer tractors and Case equivalents). Design change (since March 2004) in HST charge system results in increased pressures in filter, resulting in blown out O-ring on HST filters, especially in cold weather. New Holland sells a replacement "cold weather" filter for $60.
