I just got my tractor the other day . It is a 01 tc45d with 1500 hrs. I was bush hogging with a 6 foot cutter. I turned off the pto to cross over the drive way. when i turned it back on the motor was at 3/4 throttle. I sheared the shear pin on the cutter,I replaced the pin and now the pto will not stop even if the lever is turned off. the lever is free and dosen't fell like its in a bind .Also the three point hitch is leaking down a good bit. If i have to go into the tranny is it expensive to rebuild the lift for the three point. any one with any ideas? thanks in advance.

I drove a tc 45 d a long time ago and went of it because i had to much problems with it.
But i will say something:
engaging your pto at 3/4 throttle is bad for the clutch, why at 3/4?
When you engage him at 1200 or maybe 1500 it will also work very good
Engage your mower before you let him down and put the engine at 1200 rpm en put slow the lever to the front.

The pto lever is always very easy on the class III boomers.
It was a dream how soft this works, this in very normal i think because it is electromagnetic

Russ, the PTO is engaged with hydraulic pressure. It is not electrical in any way. You should be able to see the linkage going to valve located on the running gear below the operator platform and seat. The seat can be removed and a port in the operator platform allows you to get to the PTO control valve. Normally, when the PTO is lever is placed in OFF, hydraulic pressure is removed from the PTO clutch and the clutch opens to disengage the PTO.

By engaging the PTO at high engine speed, you may have damaged the PTO clutch/brake. If I were you, I'd try to use the rotary cutter with the PTO disengaged. If the cutter slips, that's an indication that the PTO may be trying to disengage and needs to be adjusted. If the PTO does not slip and works just like it is engaged, then you may need a major adjustment or repair of the clutch/brake. The 3PH leaking down is also something that sounds suspicious. I don't think it's possible for the PTO to have any effect on the 3PH, so that sounds like a separate problem.

I think your operator platform will have to be removed and the 3PH assy removed from the tractor to complete a seal repair. The rear transmission housing has to be removed for PTO r&r, so it could end up being a major repair if required. Combined with a 3PH repair, your cost could be pretty high. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Jinman how much hours have you already driven with your tractor?
And which problems have you got?

"Also the three point hitch is leaking down a good bit."

Is this while the tractor is running.. or shut down? Try adjusting the speed "drop control" to see if it helps.

My pto brake stopped working this summer.. probably from running(stopping) the square bailer. So yes.. now it free wheels (PHD, Bushhog) it will spin(but not like it is engaged).. but on other implements w/ a lot of pto torque required.. it will not spin unless engaged.

I haven't checked out what it would require to get it fixed yet.. I use my tractor every day to feed the steers w/.

Does this mean the "No Joy / Joystick " thread is coming back ? /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Just kidding Jim.

Glad to hear you are up and running again after your surgery.

I'm just a few hours less than 1000 (maybe 993 or so).

All the normal problems of a 58 year old male... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Actually, I don't have a single problem with my PTO and 3PH hydraulics and I never have had any. Is that what you wanted to know? I have read my repair manual regarding both systems extensively and I think I have a pretty good grasp of how the systems are supposed to work. Is there something you'd like me to look up for you? Just let me know.

OK after the tractor sitting up a for couple of days it seems the pto decided to work only when engaged. but as far as the three point hitch it was like that when i bought it. i will look and see if there a adjuster to correct it. where do i need to look? thanks

Russ, you said the 3PH was slowly dropping, so I assume you mean when the tractor is shut down. Is that right?

As far as adjusting how fast/slow the 3PH will fall when you move the control lever downward, there is a needle valve directly under the seat between your legs. This valve can normally be adjusted so the 3PH will not drop at all up to the 3PH dropping like a rock if the valve is all the way open. But remember, that's only when the position control lever is moved down. If it is not moved, the 3PH should stay where it is put. I have mine adjusted where the 3PH will drop in about two seconds if I go all the way from the top to bottom.

The hydraulic lift assembly and rockshaft can be removed fromt the tractor without splitting the tractor casings, but on modern tractors with raised platforms, the biggest job is probably removing and reinstalling the platform. In the case of the TC40, you'd also probably have to take the fuel tank out as well. Not fun! I've had my platform off and it's a PIB for sure. Especially if you don't do it all the time and have to learn everything the hard way. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I've no problems with my tce but i haven't much hours. This will change very fast /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif :d
But a friend of me is abusing one and now he will reach the 2000 i think w/o problems (only a little problem with the 4*4

At the begin i was a bit angry for the dry pto clutch, but it is an other system as an class III boomer and it doesn't require a wet clutch.
