TC45D
Well it has happened already & I haven't even gotten to my 50hr maintenance yet. I have gotten a call from the dealership that sold me my TC45D less than a year ago & it is already time for a recall - & it is a major since it involves splitting the tractor. This is supposed to take care of the problem of jumping out of gear under load while trying to slow down. (on the hydro models only) Now I am worried. This is the same dealership that couldn't handle a pre-delivery prep & mounting a loader. I think my ownership experience has just gone from not that awsome to that point of - I just want to get rid of it & get a something else. My biggest fear is that there will be more wrong with the tractor when I get it back than before it gets "fixed". Things are much more controled & clean in a factory than in a repair shop. I like the way everything works, nothing leaks & there are no scuffs in the paint right now - besides those on the loader bucket. I would like to keep it that way since this is my pride & joy & was supposed to be my last big toy for a long time. Just wondering if anyone else has gone through having the recall modifications done yet & how sucessfull they were, how many problems / complications they ran into & how long their machines were laid up. In theory it should only be a twelve hour job but...

I felt the same way the first time that my JD4400HST had to be split in order to replace its transmission. JD didn't issue recalls for the metallic contamination--at least NH isued a recall. Jd just waits until the tractor is failing or fails and then repairs it. If the mechanics are good, your tractor can be repaired at least as good as new even though you feel personally violated. Mine was "upgraded" several times until all issues were taken care of over a period of 19 months. Good luck to you.

Your warranty service should be able to performed at any NH dealer I think. But I know how reluctant you are, I've let the wife take the trucks in when I was too busy or the vehicles were under warranty or whatever and have a few horror stories in my back pocket, actually they're on the wall of my shop. On the other hand, there are careful mechanics out there too.

Is there a requirement that this be done in a certain time limit? And do all the tractors have the problem or do just a few? Having it come out of gear with a full loader and backhoe going down a hill would not be fun.

And be glad as the other fellow mentioned, that they are on top of it and have notified you BEFORE you had a problem, so many things are "secret" warranties or just "recalls" IF you happen to have your tractor in the shop. Has everyone been notified of their BX "recalls?" I haven't, and I have an early one.

Troy,
I rather read about your recall than you involed in a misfortune.

You can make a strong point to the dealer about how well you have kept your NH and wish to see it the sameway when return.

Have a pleasant weekend.

At my dealer any scratch or chip that happens during service work is touched up and the tractor is washed.I would expect if you voiced your concerns they should comply. Is there no other dealer in your area that you feel more comfortable with? Hope everything turns out ok,keep us posted. Tom

Troy,

My first experiences with the dealership that I got my tractor thru had me wondering about their abilities to do major repair work too. At about 50 hrs my tractor had to be split to do the needed repairs. In my situation I was able to speak directly to the owner and got the needed assurances that a qualified and experienced technician was going to work on my tractor. I even meet the techs and was shown around the service area.
(I have had the same issues concerning warranty work on my H-D too.)

My experience has been that the most difficult and critical jobs do go to the most seasoned mechanics and that they don't waste their skills by having them do prep work and other low level tasks.

See what you can find out beforehand. I know JD will arrange for another dealership to work on your machine if there are unresolved differences at the original dealership.
Good luck.

Del,
The 2nd fuel tank was an actual "recall", you should of received a letter directly from Kubota as well as a follow up from your dealer. The 3 pt linkage was a "service bulletin". In other words, you would not get a letter from Kubota but your dealer should of notified you and fixed the potential problems. If you have not received any follow up questionaires (owner satisfaction...) from Kubota, I would check with your dealer and have them follow up. Hope that helps.

dieselpwr,

Sorry to hear about your recall. This recall applies to just TC45's? I have a TC35 which is similar in every respect to your machine except the engine. What excactly is being fixed?

My dealer told me they would be replacing a gear cluster, shifting fork & detent springs. Beyond that, I don't know a whole lot. I was looking in my service manual & it looks like a pretty major undertaking.

Thanks dieselpwr,

I'll call my dealer and see what's up. Curious, did your machine exhibit the problem of jumping out of gear (that you described - range gear I guess). Never experienced anything like that...
