I would ask the question, if you were to purchase a new tractor; do you purchase the tractor that has been built recently (2007) or the tractor that is 12 months exposed to the elements?

Once Again,
Thx

Of course, condition will play a role.

I kind of disagree with some people. I would much rather have an 06 rather then an 04. 2 more years of sitting outside could be huge on rust and fade. The majority of the time you will notice a difference from 2 years difference and that has to be worth something. I think the value of an 04 would be less overall then a 06 model tractor. To the consumer and maybe not book value. I bought a new Tc55D and ordered a new 2007 instead of buying a July 06 sitting on the lot. Same price, but i looked at the July 06 sitting outside for 9 months and saw rust spots starting here and there that the new 07 build didnt have time to get. Thats 2 brand new tractors and i saw a difference so i cant image 2 years difference. Example--- I personally would pay $23000 for a used 06 before i would $22000 for a used 04 with same hours. i think a-lot of other people would agree.

As Chris said, all these examples have to do with condition.

I imagine, Neil assumed some common sense with his response. Two identical tractors, each with 300 hours, one that was used in a nursery and sat outside versus the same tractor that spent 300 hours mowing a gentleman farmer's lawn and was stored in a garage are going to have different prices. Perhaps not enough for some people to warrant buying the one that doesn't look as good, but different prices nevertheless.

Just got back from the local NH dealership and had a chance to compare TC45DA '06 vs '07. Besides the obvious; there was a difference in the hydrostatic radiator size, the size of the '07 is at least double the size of the '06. I am sure this change was due to issues NH had in the field or improving the longevity of the hydrostatic transmission. In addition there were some smaller changes; the radiator reservoir was move near the battery from above the front of the engine. This will allow better access for maintenance. The NH dealer will be delivering the TC45DA on Monday.

There have been several valid points about changes. Some new models have improvements, while others lose features to cut costs. An example of a radiator upgrade was just given, but at least one model I looked at recently had a radiator downgrade from a couple years ago. My main concern was all the newer eletrical components and the affects on them from the weather if the tractor was outside for 2 years. My dealer was kind enough to tell me the month and year of each tractor on the lot, without me asking. He priced them accordingly. He also told me if I ordered a new one, it could have been outside in GA for just as long, waiting to be shipped after the build date. I was "lucky" that there were no new models available when I oredered mine, and have to wait for it to be built. Now I get to wait to see if there were improvements for 2007, or if I will lose a feature to save costs. :)

True they sit in Georgia but you can still ask for a late build or newer model. I asked for an 07 and they got me a Feb. 07 and there were still July 06 models on the lot down there.

IMO, buy *the* tractor that you want now and keep it one heck of a long time and the potential difference in time that it sat on the lot will not matter. Perhaps if you make $$ with your tractor and/or upgrade or trade every so many years it's a different story....??...

Of course it's still a matter of personal preference and there is no "right" anwser :)

Serial number will tell you year of production and probably the day and month. Problem is; public can't figure it out; but dealer can I am sure.
