TC45DA Throttle Issue

The throttle on my recently purchased previously owned NH TC45DA will not stay in position at full throttle. I either have to hold it position or have to constantly push it up. What's more confusing is that after a few minutes, the problem goes away and it stays in position. Does anyone have any idea how to fix? Thanks.

Had that happen on a Massey ferguson once. Come to find out someone got happy with the wd-40. We just let it dry out and seize up a little. But it would be worth making sure the you don't have any weak springs. Otherwise it may be inside the injector pump. Let's hope it's not the latter.

There should be a nut/bolt connected to the throttle lever that will tighten the tension on it. You should be able to adjust it to where it moves in a stiffer manner thus holding the throttle in place. Sometimes the friction surfaces get worn or the nut backs off while turning. Have had to double nut it to hold it in place at times.

hummm interesting as I have the exact opposite issue, when I lower the lever to reduce the rpm, mine sticks in the higher position. I can go down to the engine where the throttle cable attaches and more the lever by hand and the rpm drop just fine. I've hit the cable with WD40 and everything else I can find to no avail. I'm figuring a new cable is in my future.

Had the exact symptoms on my TC29DA; fixed by tightening nut on pivot of throttle, had to remove side cover to to this.

Thanks guys.....looks like I need to tighten my throttle cable. Seems so common sense now. Now for the hard part.....getting TO the cable.

Don't know for sure about your TC45DA, but my side covers come off with 4 bolts, easy.

If I remember correctly we use to tighten the center friction nut on the throttle lever on out TC45DA by removing the dash (two Phillips head screws) and letting it hang to the side. Then you can reach down inside to adjust. Its metric but I don't remember the size.
