My hydraulic pump blew and filled the crankcase. When I pulled the pump I found one of the metal tangs on the coupling on the shaft side was broken off. I have the service manual but, can't find anything about how to get this shaft with the gear out. I'm going to pull the power steering pump and see if it comes out the front but, I'm leaning towards the whole timing cover will need to come off. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I think you're on the right track. Removing the PS pump should get you the coupler. Not much else to it.

The whole timing cover needs to come off. The shaft/gear will not fit through the holes exposed by removing either pump. It's a project. Mostly a lot of nuts and bolts. The tricky part comes in when you realize the cover has two dowel pins and a rubber gasket strip sealing the bottom of the cover to the oil pan. Working the cover off and then back on (without removing the pan) is a challenge.

I got it apart. What a PITA. I see your from Winchester. I know some Berrymans from that area, Relatives of my late father,

I've done that a couple times. It can cause some foul language, but still less work than dropping the oil pan.

The only Berrymans I know of are Bill (runs a tree service) and George who runs I64 Tractor. Of course everyone knows George. He's been a fixture around here for years. THE place to go for hard to find and replacement tractor parts.

Waiting on parts, Besides the shaft being broken and scored the 2 copper bushings they call them(looks similar to a cam bearing) were scored. New Holland was reasonable on the parts except for one little triangular paper gasket they had priced at 110 dollars. Messicks had it for 55 and ricks ag parts had it for 8 dollars. This sure seems silly to me.

Just a follow up. It lives! Took a while to round up parts. Spent the better part of 3 days putting it back together. Fired it up and and ran for about 15 minutes at 1500 RPM. Next I'll hook the brush cutter up and try running for an hour or so.
This job fought me every step of the way. I'm sore from crawling around the tractor.
I do like these Iveka engines. I think it's a 06 or 07 model with no emissions stuff.
Thanks for the tips Harry. I know I probably couldn't afford to have NH work on it plus the mechanic said he'd never worked on one. I know I have at least 30 hours in it but, I probably work a bit slower than a dealer mechanic.
