I am still considering buying the John Deere plow that I asked about in another recent thread. It was a 3 bottom but needed the wear parts replaced. The moldboards had been welded and patched. I think it would be fun to restore this. Take it apart, sandblast and paint, replace the needed parts and bolts. It had trip bottoms of some kind. There were grease fittings at the pivot points, and I guess some type of system that allowed rotation of the bottoms. Of course it was rusted up somewhat. Exactly how did that system work? Would a Deere 3 bottom like this be much of an advantage over this 2 bottom Ford? I wonder if I could find the parts easily, even the necessary bolts etc. that look pretty specific. I figure it would cost several hundred to restore it. Have you guys tackled a project such as this?
