So it's the direction of rotation that matters? I did take it back and they are going to reinstall but the whole pitch of the blade thing confuses me. **** I wonder if an old WWI pilot would care if his propeller blades were installed backwards. I'd bet he'd feel like its more than a slight efficency issue. :D

Anyway thanks for all of the feedback. I'll be installing the Bro-tech skid plates asap so hopefully it won't be a repeat thing. We should have a newbe checklist for BX owners with skid plates highly recommended. Like insurance, you bet you'll never need it but when things happen...

I'm surprised the offset of the blade even allowed it to be put on backwards without hitting something.

Plenty of clearance but the cutout for the bolt was facing toward the front of the tractor (toward the motor). I didn't say anything about what that cutout was for etc. At first I was hoping the head shop guy would do it but I'm sure it's going to be you screwed it up... you fix it to the tech that originally made the mistake.

Fortunately I think its calvin proof when mounted correctly. :)

A ex-fighter pilot (and therefore assumed expert in airflow and fans) tried to explain that you can't put a fan on backwards. Even though the blade cups were facing in the wrong direction it would still have cooled the transmission.

Ask him if he'd fly in a 737 with the engines' fan blades installed backwards.....

He's an idiot. Yes, it will move air, but in the wrong direction.

I just chuckled at this one deano...

cal1- were you able to get them to install fan correctly? sounds like you were just ranting....

It's interesting your dealer's oversight. It's when things go wrong that customer service shines through. I recently had the power-steering unit & hydraulic rams on our biggish Ford done at the dealer. They stuffed up badly. When I reassembled the whole thing, hydraulic oil leaked everywhere. They'd put in the wrong seals in everywhere. They couldn't do enough to fix their problem & sent out the mobile mechanic for a full day & a half to fix it.
