Tef head off woth first parts fatality

With these cuff rings, when I removed the head and copper gasket, I could see a small locating pin that seems to hold the cuff ring from rotating, now I could easily see that one was missing, so I took some close up photos. Looking back the photos show all 4 cuff rings flush with the cylinder head.
I will refer back to the manual I downloaded as the gasket looks in great condition and I am now wondering if it has been done recently and the cuff rings driven down flush with the block at that time.

Looking at the two head gaskets side by side the old one looks to be better quality, stamped with Made in England and marked one side as TOP.
I can find no markings on the new one. What do you recon, put on the new one or put back the old one.
But the great news is it moved, Heat and Beat, for most of the day today, first I was able to heat the top part of my liner and force the piston up, then once it had moved one way the other direction was twice as hard. But I have achieved one complete revolution forwards and backwards.

Are you going to pull the Pistons? How are the sleeves?

I'm not going to pull the pistons unless I see a good reason. The sleeves are in good condition, my only concern is their position in the block I think they should sit 2 thou above the face of the block. So its a strong light and my best glasses on this morning to try and measure where they are sitting.
