Tel Trax Canopy/SmartFarmer

Anyone else have experience with this product, Have ordered one showed up today damaged! Refused item, they seem to be very responsive to the issue.

For those of you that are using one, what are your opinions of canopy?

Wild,

I payed $369 thru THESMARTFARMER on Ebay, which is the cheapest I found for a 51" x 66" Fiberglass unit. The kicker is getting it to Wisconsin($116) So I have almost $500 into Canopy. Now if they coild just ship it without it being Damaged!

Is the canopy actually made of fiberglass or a thin preformed molded plastic? I bought a John Deere canopy and it is sheet molded plastic, very thin as you can almost see through it. I don't mind the weight savings but I don't want it to crack with a slight bump either.

Yes its fiberglass, it looked to be betwwen 3/16 to 1/4 inch thick. Shipping weight was 100lbs so its more than thin plastic.

I'm not 100% sure, but these tops look just like some that we (the dealer I worked for then) used in the late 80's and early 90"s. The ones we used were built well, but we sold more of the aluminum diamond plate than the fiberglass. The aluminum stood up to the tree limbs better than the fiberglass. They were easy to install, too. 2 men could put one on in about 20 minutes.

Like I said, I'm not 100% sure they are the same. I can't remember what the manufacturers name was.

By the time you add the steel for reinforcement my canopy ( 46" x 48" ) from John Deere weighs close to 80#. Don't know if many places would fool around laying up multiple layers of fiberglass mat for a canopy. Then they would have to sand, grind, paint amd go through alot of extra process's. The smc can be mixed with dye or color, heated, formed, and done.
I e mailed this manufacturer. They wouldn't say what it was made of.. only if I gave dimensions they would have one that would fit. Not real user friendly to a potential customer. Maybe business is TOO good !

I found them very helpful before purchase, answering all my questions promptly. Now if the trucking company could deliver it with out damaging it!
