I checked again and they way the blade is set up, I can't turn the pins inward anyway.

There just isn't much room to hook up to 26" implements with these R4s. One dealer recommended the wheel spacer kit because of this, but I didn't get them. I think they added 1.5" to each side. I think I will call tractorsmart and see how much they are.

Cutoff wheel or torch will make short work of them. Pins are cheap.

Can you swap sides with wheels, maybe that will give more room? Put right wheel on left side, left on right.

That won't work with the R4 rims.

I called tractorsmart. There is a telescopic stabizer kit for the L2800/3400 - $150. Problem is, they won't work if you have R4s because they will likely rub on the wheels. There is a wheel spacer kit to solve this problem - $150 also. The dealer I talked to said they sold all their 2800/3400s with the wheel spacer kits intalled on tractors with R4s. So, I think I will spring for the wheel spacers after Christmas, then the stablizers come Spring time. Those spacers are going to be a pain to install since my tires are loaded. I will have to figure out a way to jack the tire up.

I would put the tractor on jack stands high enough so you can get a floor jack under the tire and if you can get a helper to keep it from rolling off the floor jack that would be benificial.

How about something like this. Take a piece of angle iron and drill holes to attatch at holes on bottom of ROPS(?) mount with a piece of iron welded in place with a hole in it for clevis to mount to, thereby moving your attatchment point in (adjust for however much room you have) by a couple inches. Cheap fix. Maybe.

I too was shocked at how little space I had when I tried to put on a set of chains. Not enough room to get the chains in safely between the tire and fender.

Some have said that the rims can be set wider but I haven't checked into it yet.

I'm going to try the first winter without chains. Won't be a problem at this rate - there's no snow around yet!

I know this is an old thread but I was wondering how the author made out with this project. I have r4's on my 2800 and very little clearance between the tires and the turnbuckles. If you have part numbers that would be great. Thanks

Derek

I got 1" spacers - Part# L8787 I believe. That 1" on each side helped out a lot. Still don't know about clearance for installing the telescoping stabilizers. I was hoping someone else would have gotten this upgrade, but I don't know of anyone on TBN that has this option on their 2800/3400.

In the Kubota book they have L-8430 which is stabilizers for L-series. Thses are the standard ones for a L-4400. Retail, 149.
