Telescoping draft links

   / Telescoping draft links #21
THANK YOU GUYS!!! My dealer told me they (telescoping links) weren't available for the compacts (my case a 4710), and after seeing this he found they aren't listed as an option for new sales, but a replacement part...in any event, I'm GETTING THEM!!!...this forum is GREAT!

Not sure why your dealer is telling you this. I bought my 4710 last year new with these telescoping links AND NOT as a replacement part. They were an option I paid extra for and they replaced the standard draft links.

Bob,
How much extra did they charge you for the draft links option.

my 3pt has the same size pin as the cat 1 pin on other end so what size or how are these setup?

Thanks Bob...I've found (this is my fourth CUT!) that through these forums I've given my dealer a real education!!!

The telescoping links cost me an extra $207 plus minor labor charge to install.

Stopped by my dealer about an hour ago do look at the 4310 one more time before making up my mind. When I asked him about telescoping links, he told me they were not even an option for the 4x10's. What's the deal? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif You would think the guy would want to sell a set if he could.

See attached pic of the telescoping draft links on my JD 4710. I'd suggest you find another dealer who could give you accurate information.

Actually, I don't think the dealer is entirely wrong. The links are available through the parts system, not actually as a new option. While a dealer who really knows the product, can handle this like its an option, some ay not realize that it is in the parts catalog.

The latest 4000TEN brochure that I have seen shows them in the back "Accessories" section.

He's full of it. Here give him the part #'s. For horizontal bar the part # is LVB 25308 $210

For vertical stabilizer bar the part # is LVB 2072 $210.

The draft links are listed in the John Deere Configurator in the section Accessories, Attachments for field conversion.

I think that part of the confusion is that dealers are relying on the I-match system for quick hitching, and that eliminates the real need for telescoping draft links. I asked the same thing, and when I realized that most of my attachments were I-match, I figured I really didn't need the telescoping draft links. This is especially the case with Frontier (JD's line) of attachments.

Mike & "Chevy" are right...my dealer showed me that they are listed in the parts section of the JD sales manual for CUTs, rather than the "options" section, and as "Cowboy Doc" says, they can be ordered with those part numbers. ($240 list for 4710.) The "5200" series have them listed as options for each model rather than "parts". As a side comment, I just put them on, and what a difference!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

He is wrong. My dealer recommended them, fortunately. They are great.

Rocky Ridge,

You were exactly right they are listed in the parts section. When I ordered the tractor this morning, he told me the minute I walked in the door he was wrong the other day and said they would be no problem. I ordered them on the new tractor and he let me have them for $157 installed. He commented that I seem to be awfully informed and I told him I had hundreds of advisors.

Thanks to all

That's great! Great to have another 4310er! Yours is the first 2WD I. know of! It'll be great to hear your input after you get it!

I only mow my yard, bushhog my pasture, and cut in a few food plots once a year at my deer camp. I know 4WD would be nice but I just couldn't justify the extra cost. My last tractor was 2WD and I never stuck it. You just have to use common sense sometimes. If I had been interested in a loader, I would definately have bought 4WD. I'm just proud to have an oper platform and power steering. My 6 year old son this morning finished making up my mind. I asked him Kubota or JD, he looked at me like I was stupid and said John Deere like he couldn't believe I had even asked.

Rocky:

I doubt it my son thinks that he is alot bigger than what he is. He asked me for a motorcycle and a deer rifle. They all grow up to fast!
