Tell me about the 990 and rough terrain mowers

I just got a flail mower and will second what hilly said. The rotary mower is good for thick sticks and trees. There are more options for flail mowers regarding the cut quality.

I would say that the rotary mower is better for brute force land clearing. The flail mower is nice once you have it all cleared and are just looking to keep it mowed.

I came across a 2004 990 with loader MINT with only 2 hours on it and never used and no scratches. The guy never used the thing. I went to my local john deere dealer and told him I was looking for something used and he said he didnt' have much inventory but he was selling this deere outside of the dealership sort of like a consignment. The guy is asking $17,500. I got him down to $16,500, but decided to go with a new Kubota L4400 instead. If you know of anyone that wants it, it is located in Indiana.
