Since there has been a lot of discussion recently re temp gauges I thought I would post my experiences.

I bought a gauge at wal-mart for $9.97, the correct adapter was included and the installation was very straightforward. I found it interesting that the gauge never moved past 140 degrees, even after an hour of cutting HEAVY brush at 2500RPM. The temp outside was around 40 degrees.

That brings me to the Rotary cutter. I bought a 42" Befco cutter. It seemed to be well made and that was proven yesterday. I cut some brush that was over 2" in diameter, and also hit a couple of hidden stumps with no serious consequences.

My 1300D handled it all very well. I did install an overun clutch on the PTO shaft. I can not wait to do some more!

I think you'll find that Befco is a very well made premium brand. At least that is my experience with it. The brand is not well known, and is hard to find (at least where I live) but I've got a 60" Befco Cyclone finish mower and it is incredibly well made.

I'm sure your Befco rotary cutter will hold up to years of use.
