I think MickeyFX was correct with the electrical diagnosis...replaced radiator and water pump and light still comes on....no water in oil and I measured the water in the radiator and it was 150 degrees....

Looks like I'm gonna have to trace every **** wire to correct this problem....I really don't trust these lights anyway....I think I'm gonna put a mechanical water temp and oil pressure guage on and be done with it.

If my WAG turns out to be correct, wish I could have offered it prior to your buying rad and WP.

MickeyFX was correct...traced all wires yesterday and got all wiring connections straight and guess what.....dummy lights now work correctly, lights work correctly...I also have a spare water pump....I will post some pics of the total rehab this pm.

Good Job. I believe that I need to do the same with my 1510D Viet rebuild, but have not taken the time to do it yet.

Glad to hear its fixed.

Just to ask without having to start a new 'thread', How do I test the temp light on my YM2500? I'm really not sure if its working or not.

Simple answer. Find the temp sender and disconnect it then ground the wire to block or head ..see if light comes on..
but it should light up with key on engine off, without disconnecting anything.( most engine works that way, disregard this part of post if the yanmar doesn't)

Or ... slide the connector slightly off the sensor, then touch a grounding wire to the sensor's pin. (because the wire's terminal is a socket that is difficult to touch directly to ground.)

That's a preferable design, but these don't. The only time you see the light is when the sensor grounds due to overheating. The manual says remove and test the bulb at regular intervals, but grounding it like you and I said is easier.
