Temporary Electric To Shed Questions

/ Temporary Electric To Shed Questions #41
Electricity can KILL YOU!!!. To do the job correctly is to take all of the previous advice. One very important piece of info was left out though, this panel everyone is recommending [including me], is by all intents and purposes, a subpanel and should be wired/installed as such. This requires a three wire cable with ground, a floating nuetral bus bar and proper grounding, plus disconnects at each end of the feed. If I scared you, GOOD, I have seen first hand on many occasions what electricity is capable of, and you can never be too safe.
Please find someone in your area that can help you, a licensed electrician perhaps. I get sickened when I see a human fried beyond recognition, and it's not always the other guy. Good Luck /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

The question is now mute, because if he hasn't done it already, then the ground is frozen and he will have to wait till spring. If he has, he no longer needs direction.... projects over.... My bet is that he has a 100' orange electrical cord strung from tree to tree till he gets to the tractor.... SOOOOoooooo what was the final configuration ????

For those who need to know.....

I went to Lowes and picked up 150 feet of heavy duty extension cord, 12/2, layed it on the ground and will be plugged into a gfi socket when needed. I then put several 1/2 inch rebar along side of the wire so I know where it is under the snow. I was going to hang the wire from the rebar, but then I thought the deer would just trip over it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Used it today for 1 hour to heat the block heater before starting and blowing snow for a few hours.

I hope this makes everyone happy /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

NY_Yankees_Fan,

Sounds like a real professional job, as compared to some of the things I used to stumble on in the steel mill where I used to work! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And I am serious... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You will definitely be flame broiled if it isn't ORANGE !!! I know that the box stores sell these extension cords in BLUE, and I also know that your tractor is ORANGE. It is absolutely imperative that only ORANGE be used with an ORANGE tractor. EVERYONE here knows the same...... or should!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Guess the fashion inspectors will have something to say about that /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

That orange wire only comes in 16 or 14 gauge, based on all the commets here I went for heavier gauge..... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Besides it has 10 inches of snow on it now so its WHITE /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

One piece or multiple sections? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I just used two 50' sections of the same size and type of cord to put Christmas lights on the carport out front. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif And since Junkman says you may have the wrong color, are they yellow like mine from Wal-Mart? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Oops, you were typing at the same time as I was.
