Hey All, I have found some lighting threads but not one that addresses roof-mount 360 lighting, if so please send me a link.

I have been thinking about replacing my work lights with led, but a lot of higher end pod lighting is overkill for snowblowing at 5mph. I ended up finding some of these style lights and wanted to see if any of you had experiences or maybe a good direction for me to go in.

Robot Check

These lights are magnetic, can be cig outlet powered and are supposed to throw some decent light. I am looking for 30 foot or so halo around my tractor if possible. But I am worried about the LED's not getting hot enough and icing over.

Anyone have any input? Do I just need to buck up and pay the big bucks? I'd prefer not to.

Thanks.

LEDs are generally very bright and even if the bar was iced over, the LED glow would be visible. If the conditions are worse, then either you shouldn't be out there or the other folks shouldn't be out there to see you.

That light would do more than your asking for.

Thanks for the responses guys.

Just as a heads up, this will be used on my commercial lots and I won't be driving around the roads. It will be good when I am pushing back the town plow piles.

I think I will give this a try!

I got some freebees over the years, some still NIB, but honestly never tried them as I don't do much after dark. Years ago, parying til dawn, they would have been cool to have.

The hallogen lights on my truck plow still can ice up so whats the dif? Your getting the yellow light and only traveling 5mph? I dont see icing up as a problem.

That is what I am thinking, and I can always hop out and scrape it off quick. I ordered one and will give it a shot next week when it comes in. I 'll post up a few pictures in this thread so people can get an idea of light outputs of these things.

I'm not sure if you're looking more for work lights (i.e. clear lights) or if you're looking for strobe lights (flashing yellow). The link you posted shows a yellow light bar. However, if you're looking for additional lighting to illuminate areas for clearing snow, I would highly recommend the Thomas LED lights. I watch several different tractor/farming channels on YouTube. On one video I watched [DLH Farms], the poster switched his factory work lights on his cab with Thomas LED lights. The change was absolutely unbelievable!! HUUUUUGE difference. I was impressed... so much so that I went to the same place he bought his lights from. I'll warn you: The lights are expensive. I really didn't want to spend $210 on two lights. I was debating for 5 days if I really wanted to spend that money to replace the factory lights that worked without problems. (My tractor is only a month old.) I finally bit the bullet, and ordered two lights. That YouTube video was no exaggeration. These lights are absolutely fantastic. They are insanely bright. And because they are flood lights, they spread out an illuminate everything. They spread out to virtually the sides of the tractor. I was so impressed, I ordered two more for the rear. With 2 of these Thomas lights in the front and 2 in the back, I have lighting on virtually 360 degrees of the tractor. I know you're not looking to spend a lot of money. But if I were you, I'd go for a quality work light such as this Thomas LED light. Especially if you're plowing/snowblowing commercially or regularly. These lights are worth every penny.

Edit: I tried posting links to the YouTube video and to the lights, but it appears I can't post links as a new member. [Frequent TractorByNet stalker. First time poster. :) ]
