Got an engineless A-100 from a neighbor, and installed a replacement engine purchased on e-bay. Engine swap is complete, and tomorrow we'll give it the smoke test. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Well it didn't pass, the battery was nearly dead and when my helper hooked up the jumper cable on the supply side he got them backwards. Fortunately he took my suggestion of hooking up the positive lead to the battery, and the negative lead to the frame. The short that developed when he clamped that second lead melted the positive battery terminal. Another day, a new $27.27 battery and we were up and running. Now to reinstall the deck and check out the mower. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

In my humble opinion, Murphy was an optimist. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I've got the motor running, but am experiencing considerable surging in engine rpm. I'm guessing it is in the governor, as carb, throttle and choke adjustments have no effect. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to smooth out the throttle/governor response?
