We have the Barker Tenon cutter at the shop which is designed for a lathe. Blades are removable, so sharpening is not a big issue, though I don't recall anyone ever sharpening them. Probably made about 100 tenon cuts with it so far. I'm not the one who uses it, so that is about as much info as I can give. The person who does use it would certainly complain if it didn't work well.
Mostly used for cedar and similar medium/soft woods. I don't recall it ever being used for hardwood like oak or hickory.
~$300. Not sure how much you are looking to spend. This is mainly a regular use item instead of a quick one-off cutter.
