The startup on my 1025r is sometimes hampered by the need to reposition the gear lever into neutral. I wonder if the switch needs replacement? I have looked around on the web but I can't say that I have found a source that shows or describes where the switch actually is. I have read one can put an ohm meter on the switch to test the resistance, but I sure don't know where to find the connections. I saw some on the left side of the rear of the transaxle but there is no change in resistance if I move the lever. Therefore I figure, that isn't the switch. I sure would like some to rescue this for me. My questions are: where is the switch, what do the connections look like, can I test with a meter, how hard is it going to be to replace it???? Thanks.

The switch appears to me part # MIA881067 and shown in jdparts John Deere - Parts Catalog

key #6 in schematic of rear wiring harness.
Google the part # will bring up some hits.

From beenthere's post, it shows an O-Ring, so I suspect the neutral switch is on the transmission

Your situation is an embuggerance, but not unique. It's most likely something to do with the HST transmission.

My 4105 does the same thing as your 1025r for start-up. A somewhat similar thing happens (occasionally) when initially putting it into the LOW or HIGH position... I have to nudge it into position after applying a few revs.
