Its hard to beat a good air show...confederate especially.

I've always wanted to go to the museum at Wright field in Ohio and Oshkosh too, just not been able to prioritize.

My favorite sight is the space shuttle re-entry (safe one's that is).

Kyle, I like museums, so we've been to lots of them in our travels. In my opinion, the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH is the best aviation museum. We've been there twice; first time for a few hours and the second time for 2 days.:D I'd highly recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity to visit, and if you want to do more than just walk through, you need to plan at least 2 days (or more). The second most interesting to me was the Naval Aviation Museum at Pensacola, FL. The public tours of Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, AZ are quite interesting. The Pima Air & Space Museum was pretty good and I've heard it's been greatly improved since we were there. Of course, everyone's heard of the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum and it was quite interesting, but would be in third or fourth place for my interests.

Cool pics, Bird...thank you!!!
Any idea why those tractors where being displayed?

Mornin Roy and Bird,
First thanks for some beautiful pictures !!! Especially the Farmall A and B ! Roy if you look closely at the Farmall B you will see a ball hitch, these tractors were used to position planes years ago, in fact International Harvester had what they called the Hebard shop muel which were very common at airports for moving planes years ago ! :)

Yep, Scotty, both of those Farmalls had ball hitches on them. Of course I took the guy's word for that B being a 1940 model, but both of them also had PTOs. However, neither had a 3-point or any other kind of hitch to allow raising and lowering the hitch or any implement. My first tractoring experience was with a 1940 John Deere L which had no PTO, and no 3-point, of course, but it did have a hand lever, much like the old cars and trucks had for parking brakes (they called them emergency brakes back then) and that lever enabled you to raise or lower an implement (plows that we used) and lock it into a certain depth.

JazzDad, I see you have a better picture of the weinermobile. I'd seen pictures before but guess this was the first time I'd actually seen that thing. He arrived there the same time we did. And when I mentioned to my brothers that I noticed it was a dually, my younger brother got down on his knees and looked under the front end and said, "Well, it's a Ford chassis anyway." I took his word for it.:D

Bird, thanks for the pictures. It's fun to watch the Confederate Air Force flying in formation overhead when they are going to a show. The sights and sounds make you feel like you are in a time-warp. Those old planes really rumble.

Hey Bird, thanks for the great pics, I had the opportunity to go to the Oshkosh air show once and have also been to the Pennsicola museum. I think my favorite planes were the corsairs maybe because of the black sheep and pappy boyington, I still like to catch reruns of the black sheep every now and then.

One thing I did not make any pictures of this time was quite an extensive show of formation flying by seven RV planes and now I've forgotten just which model they were.
