They did a real number on that pasture.

Check these traps out: BoarBuster

A little pricey?

Yeah we have trapped on and off over the years too but have the place leased out for cattle,so don’t won’t calves getting in them. I keep them run out by shooting some but they always get a night or two in before get the time they are showing up. But few nights of 20 hogs does a number to the pasture, then next time it’s new place and so on adds up.

Possible here but better chance tomorrow night. I always get mixed up on the high and low temps. As in are the low temps for the wee hours of that day or for that night/early hours of next day?

24 hour period beginning at midnight, if I understand it correctly, which is always questionable. :D

I fully understand. Luckily we had very few calves get in the traps but it can happen. I thought that particular trap design was interesting. Haven't seen it in action but it's definitely different. They claim they can get an entire sounder in one trap with that system.

We had 4+" of rain last Wednesday and 1 1/2" the week before. Burn bans over, in Colorado County, and both tanks within 2-3" of being at full level.

With calm conditions, I started igniting my 9 huge burn piles. Got two smallest ones done yesterday and hope to get 1-2 done today, while we have no wind.

You have a very nice looking place Rick.

Thanks Robby! Patricia decided that the front, road facing, side of the ranch would "look like a park" so .... it is as requested.

When we bought this place, in 2006, we had a $1M crop of goat weed, etc. We've pretty much eliminated all the goat weed except along perimeter fence where seed blows in from neighbors.

Did you eliminate the goatweed by annual mowing or spraying?

Mowing multiple times per year. I have one pasture that, other than fence lines, has not had any herbicide applied. It's been an experiment that's worked very well.

Took the wife, daughter, and two grandkids to Santa's Wonderland in College Station Saturday night. I was impressed. We did the horse and carriage ride which was by far the best thing to do. Over 8 million lights. I've driven by that place many times in the daytime during its offseason and never realized the extent of it. Neat place.

One of our traditions is a circle through Johnson City for the Blanco County courthouse lighting, Trail of Lights on Lake LBJ in Marble Falls (pie at Bluebonnet Cafe) and work in a stop at Cooper’s BBQ in Llano.

Thanks robbyr for the suggestion in BCS when we are over that way.

We did the Trail of Lights two years ago, then ate a fine meal overlooking the river.
