Cut & Shoot is due south of me. Lots of rif raf down that way. Tons of trailer houses. Cut & Shoot is due East of Conroe and all the way to Cleveland (to me) is the same. There are a few large tracts with nice houses, but you have to drive past or thru lots of trailers and broken down houses to find them.

Due West of Conroe is Lake Conroe and the houte toute rich folks.

I probably should have put a :D on the post mentioning Cut and Shoot.

Although I have seen some nice places in that area Brandi you are right about a lot of trailers and 'rif raf'. As subjective as that term is it does sum it up and I think most know what you mean. But one problem with the areas surrounding Houston are that they are all like that in some way.

I had to live in Houston for over a year recently where I was doing business in the downtown area as well as north and south occasionally. I elected to live as close to downtown inside the loop ( San Felipe) as reasonable and so most of my drive was contrary to the normal traffic patterns. I also had the luxury of flexible hours when I had to be at locations for work.

If I ever have to work in Houston long term I will probably buy a small car, live close to work as possible and go to the country when I can and telecommute as much as possible from there.

You summed up half my life in half of one sentence.

You both seem to know from experience what I am talking about but from different perspectives. :D

That's because Brandi is frolicking in the hair while I was wallowing in the bowels.

But I have escaped.

Two reason I never wanted to live near work. Dad always taught me to not buy flat land. H town is built on a flat swamp and bayou. The other reason is I can't stand to be live close to others. When I divorced and had to live in an apartment for 6 months............I hated it. Give me fresh air and stars at night.

We had a Houston address until I was twelve. 12 years was enough for me. I could see the HL&P Powerplant's lights from my bedroom window.

I can understand you on that Brandi!

For me it's a little different. I love Houston! It's my birthplace ad I have many happy memories of growing up there. I have many relatives and friends in Houston and it's not at all uncommon for me to go there and run into people I know just out and about in town unexpectedly.

I like that about a big city that is still in many ways like a very close knit small town. I especially like it when a group of native Houstonians gets together and talk rolls around to the 'old' days growing up in Houston.

My family always had an interest in Houston and even though I've only lived there temporarily off and on since the '70's working, I still feel very close to Houston.

For me though knowing that I was never 'stuck' in Houston was always comforting. I can go and enjoy it for a week or more and always knowing that I'm leaving soon. I always have places to get away to and I have come accustomed to being able to enjoy different parts of the state from the brush and pear of south Texas to the Hill Country and backland pararie and the piney woods and lakes of east Texas.

A few times in my life I have been able to see sunrise over Galveston Bay and sunset near the Franklin or Chisos mountains in west Texas on the same day and that is spectacular to me. I'm not just from Texas I am of Texas.

Merry Christmas! :xmastree::present::santahat::eek:rnament::frosty::wreath:
