I heard on the weather this evening that we're still about 18" below normal on rainfall. I mowed the yard today, more green grass than I've seen all year. With the cool temps it seemed like an early spring day. It won't last long, should have a killing freeze soon.

Bird, saw that on the news, Channel 8 I think it was, those folks are suffering.

I think this drought will get a lot of heads churning for solutions, limiting my well is hopefully not on the table. We probably use less water than most city houses use since I know I cant take my well for granted, I also know I cant call the "city" to fix something when it's gone out.

They lifted the burn ban yesterday, so spent the afternoon on brush pile #1. Perfect day to burn......almost no wind.

Wow Jim
That's a Tom we'd love to have in Ohio.
The sun finally came out this afternoon after a week of gloom and rain.
Ron

Wow! You just never know how big the range is for those Texas Toms.

TxDon: That pup of yours finally found him a snake that won't send him to the vet. I'm like him; I like playing with those hognose snakes too.

I would too!!! I was so hoping that Oscar would hunt down and kill snakes. I've hears stories that wild hogs do this, but I've never seen it or read it in anything official. The one time Oscar came across a rat snake, he sniffed the snake, it bit him on the nose and Oscar ran away.

I really need to video this stuff!!!!

 Well that says allot about Oscar to me! He's no fool. Maybe "in the wild" but why, if you have a healthy grown man there to protect ya!! Only exception I could see is if there's a pretty girl there Oscar wants to impress, other than that Eddie, your on your own brother!!

When I was just a kid, I heard that hogs would kill snakes. So one day, I caught a four and a half foot snake; harmless variety that we called chicken snakes, and threw it in the hog pen. Not a single hog showed any interest in it at all.

We got 3 and 3/4 inches of rain two weeks ago. It was a real gully washer. The ground was so hard and dry, that rain put over 5, as in five feet of water in my pond. Last Tuesday we got another inch. The local weather guy says we are still around 27 inches behind in rain. But now it is green around here as all my rye grass is up.

Live is good and I am Thankful. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
hugs, Brandi

Brandi, glad to hear you don't have to put the hose in the pond any longer. :)

You and me both. I did forget to put the log in the pond from the underwater island up to the shore, like Eddie suggested. Now the island is under water. I still want to do that.

Looks like we have more on the way too! don't know how far South it will get though, but looks like Eddie and other guy's East of the D/FW metro-mess may be in for more.

AND, appears the Cowboy's finally found a kicker too!!! Yeah

You are right Dennis. However, even with his stats, I'm still not a Romo guy. You take away Murray and Whitten on offense and Ware on defense and see how many games they win. Maybe I should add Robinson to that list of take-aways. He's sure been a great replacement for Austin. I think Austin and Jones will have to re-earn their spots when they get health. It's also good to see Lee back on defense. What bothers me is that any team with a great passer can punch holes in the Dallas pass defense. I think that's why the Eagles and Mike Vick had such a great day against them. Their primary weakness was his strength in the last game and it will be interesting to see how the next game turns out.

Now to anyone who says this post is a hijack of the thread. What else do we have to do here in Texas during the fall and winter but be armchair quarterbacks for our Cowboys.:D This year, if the Cowboys are failing, we can break out our Texans gear and still stand proud.

Good points Jim. I think Romo is better than he gets credit because it takes so many factors for his talent to work with this team, guy's running the right routes, front line doing their job. Like Staubach, Aikmen, (sp) both top class QB's and had top class teams in the day. I think Romo works better under pressure as he demonstrated time after time, but he does have a tendency to push the pass. In a way I like this, NFL isn't a place for "pansies", but I don't like the interceptions.

One thing that is odd, for the raw talent they have, they sure can be hot or cold.

Good thing you and I aren't opinionated:laughing: But they are "our" boyz

What rain??? got the "hatches" battened down for the
"big" event then ended up with maybe 2 drops, bummer. We sure got the wind portion though.

Jim and Don, I guess you guy's can go back to "diggin" in your tanks, if you have a cab the next few day's wouldn't be to bad. Freeze coming for us North Texas guys Sunday night, which is good timing. I had to replace the rear refractory panel in our fireplace, got it in yesterday and installed it, so the boss lady can have "her" fire,, thus I will eat better:D

Been raining the last 5 hours. About 2 inches in the rain guage now with no sign of stopping. Medium steady rain now. I think this round will fill the pond.:)

NWS says Denton got 0.05" of rain. I figure I got about 0.03". 64 degrees a little after midnight last night, 60 when I got up this morning and almost no wind. But we're definitely getting the wind now and the temperature is on the way down; only down to 56 so far, but the norther just hit no more than 30 minutes ago.
