bindian; Wish I could get your overflow for my pond! Your ponds look really good!

Thanks FG! I wish you were getting it also. It hurts to see all the runoff leaving my property when we have been short so long. Just east of me got 5 inches today.

I'm also way behind on emails. Internet service has been in and out all day.

Thanks Lou. Do you have time for a pond poem?

May not be about the pond but I am sure the others farmers and myself would enjoy twenty nine year olds girls swimming:cool2: pictures please:shocked::laughing:.. Lou

No problem Lou. You know...........animosity is a big, huge word. How about something with ducks, frogs, and turtles in it?

Lou; I have yet to see you get "out of line". I love your poems and your fun. When things slow a bit here, I'll drink a few with you. I just won't have your smooth way with words!

It is getting a little cool for skinny dipping here, but maybe I can dig out a photo of me getting ready to slide in this past summer. I say "slide in", because my pond is mostly mud. It won't likely fill soon either. While everyone is measuring in inches, I am still measuring in tenths. 0.3" for me here, in the last 24 hours. Looks like the rain chances are pretty well gone from here too.

Thanks Jim. The bottles come with runoff from the road ditch. I have not figured out how to stop then, while letting small limbs and leaves go through.

Sorry you have to clean up other people's messes. I do it all the time on our road and around the edges of our lake where people just discard cans and bottles. There's just a class of people that think the environment is their trash can.

Still raining now and it looks like Kyle and Mike are getting it also. 4" in the last 5 hours.....and NO the road did not hold up.........

I'm not sure what we've ended up with here in Tyler, but it's finally done raining.

My pond is up almost 2 feet and water is still flowing in from the wooded stream at a good pace from the small stock tank up the hill.

After all the "Green" and "yellow" on the weather radar, I ended up with .25. I guess that's enough to keep the winter grass and my food plot on life support.

Good news. The road damage does not look near as bad in the daytime dry as it did in the dark with running water and heavy rain. I had made the road wide enough so I can still drive the Prius down on the unwashed side. The rest of the road held up good, I'm not such a bad road builder after all.....:)

Before and after a quick 4.5" rain - same angle, 2 days apart.

A few passes with the blade and it will be ready for the next storm.
A lot of this water will be diverted before the next rain. A berm that channeled water into a pond went across the road (and down the road) above the wash out. That pond is no longer there (a sand pit now) and the berm will be taken down.

Subarus are good cars, but look how much you can save over the price of a new Subaru if you buy this.

You better hurry though, the bid ends in 4 hours. Plenty of left over money to buy fuel. :)

Jim,
I walked around the dam today and picked up bottles and paper/foam plates. But I can not get to the bottles floating around the island:eek:. I do need a jon boat for island mx.
After my first pond was built, my son gave me a remote controlled PT boat to play with in the pond.;) It lasted two years before water got in the enclosed engine pod:confused3: and corroded it out. I can't find parts for this foreign boat either.:mur: So it was scrapped.

So I need a new boat, but not another PT boat.:talktothehand: I need a work:shipcaptain: boat with a salvage crane or loader grapple:cloud9: on a boat to go retrieve the bottles still floating around the island.:cool: That would be a skill I could put on a resume.................can retrieve floating water bottles remotely.

Wow, TXdon, you were able to get out there and work the road even with how we it was? Looks good!

Don,
That is good news. It's amazing how a little heavy rain can take out a driveway or road. But, like you said, a few passes with the blade and all is good.
