Funny, bindian. I love grapefruit! I find oranges too sweet, but can eat 5 pounds of grapefruit a day, when it is coming up from the Valley fresh! I'll eat it, to the exclusion of almost everything else! And I still prefer the original grapefruit to the Ruby Red. They tried to get a sweeter grapefruit with the RR, and almost ruined it, IMO.

Gorgeous 77* today! A great day to be hanging out in barns! I also got most of my onion patched hoed, so will finish that and get the onions in tomorrow, while topping water troughs, etc., and trying to beat the next front coming. Last I heard, chance of wintry mix here on Sunday. GO AWAY WINTER!!!!

Never really understood (when I was younger) why my Dad's youngest brother left the farm in Higgins and went 18 miles over to Shattuck OK. Later in life, while visiting local cemeterys for Family Tree research, I learned we had kin all over the place up there in several little communities on both sides of the state line. Also, like mentioned above, sometimes you gotta follow the jobs. My Dad's youngest brother built up the only lumber yard/concrete truck/house building company within 40 miles. Shattuck had the hospital, Higgins didn't. I had cousins and an aunt live in Higgins and work in the hospital in Shattuck.

Jim,
Oh yeah.........I don't think the wind south of the border blows northward much.
hugs, Brandi

bindian: Of course the wind does. Texas always gets the smoke when Mexico is burning.

Now that was funny.

Maybe Jim was talking about Pasadena, or Galveston after a fish killing red tide.

So I walked into the store and saw an old friend. I said, "Crown, how would you like to come home with me and have a Royal time?";)

Never shot at golf balls before, but there's an idea to "kill two birds with one stone" so to speak. Of course you'd be picking up pieces.

Brandi,, They are bringing out some Zero turn mowers tomorrow and cut the field to ground level.. Then take the hay rakes and role it to the outside and burn it after dark.. Sound likes it going to be a lot of fun.. but I will leave early in case the fire dept. is called.. So I can say.. They did what?..

This piece of land (18teen A) is in the city limits,, anything over 10 acres is treated as if it is in the county.. shooting or burning.. Lou

Is that the city's law or Lou's Law?

Don it is a city ordinance,, if you hadn't been annexed since 1987 and not within a 100 yards of a home,, then you are father in lawed.. I also have 54 acres that is part of this same property that is in the county,, They are putting in a new county roads, four lanes concrete that on the south side of me and a four lanes on the east side.. The city wants 60 ft. easement between the city property and county land.. before long I will be out of the ranching/driving range/farming.. this area is growing too fast for me,:), Lou

When I was a kid, a neighbor's property backed up to a golf driving range. Often, people with severe hooks would drive their balls over the fence and onto his place. We'd go golf ball hunting and take the balls back to the driving range because they would let us hit the balls we brought back for free. I also liked to hold onto several balls because they were so much fun to hit with a baseball bat.:D

Don that's not grandfathered,, but father in lawed.. it's a joke.. When they annexed a 20A parcel of land that belonged to the mayor father in law who had a gun range,, to keep from shutdown the gun range the 1987 ruling came in,, his 20A was right next to my 18A at the time.. Lou
