Thanks for all that Snowback. But I don't need all that to know we are gonna have a hard winter. My trees have dumped an acorn crop you can tip toe through. It is thick.
Merry Christmas hugs, Brandi

Merry Christmas to you too Brandi! And to everyone else as well!

You're 100% right on acorns. Can't walk barefoot without howling after stepping on so many lately...

Merry Christmas to y'all.

Merry Christmas to y'all.
Our crop last year was non existent. I remember that, as I love the sound of acorns hitting the tin roof.
Merry Christmas hugs, Brandi

Just got the wood stove ready to go. Here comes the blast.

We just got the initial blast of wind out of the north!

Stay warm, and keep your pets warm too.

So tonight's report from Conroe/Navasota/College Station was hot and windy. 80 degrees + around 3pm and did not cool much through early evening.

When we went out to Santa's Wonderland tonight, I was wearing shorts and a T-Shirt. Could not even justify a hot chocolate for the wagon ride! It was so windy when we stopped for gas in Navasota that it almost felt like being back in Oklahoma. It was from the south as well, so something cataclysmic must be setting up here for tonight.

Still 75 degress as of 9:05pm in Conroe - was 75 in Navasota when we passed through around 8pm. Currently 54 degrees in Navasota, so it's on its way and the squall line is just now forming up over the lake according to radar. Time for the light show!

WOW!!!!! I'd love to see some white stuff here too. I get nostalgic this time of year.

You're just an ole snowball. It was colder here at the times you posted. It was 70 at sundown and 63, when the wind started blowing around 8. 42 degrees here now.
We are going to Santa's Wonderland...Santa's Wonderland - College Station, Texas - The Lights, or Moody Garden Ice Lights...Ice Land after Christmas. We haven't decided yet.
Merry Christmas hugs, Brandi

Patricia and I went to the Nutcracker Ballet at the Wortham Center in downtown Houston tonight. It was 82 when I left Ranch at 3 pm, 73 when we walked out of the Wortham at 9:45 pm and 36 when I arrived back at the Ranch at 11:45 pm.

BTW, the Nutcracker was excellent. This is first year of their new production, by Stanton Welch. The Ben Stevenson Production ran annually from 1987 to 2015. This our 17th attendance. It's a Christmas tradition for us. We try to go every other year. Sat in one of the Founders Boxes.

National Weather Service says it's 14 degrees in Denton, and it felt like it when I went out to the shop a few minutes ago.

32 degrees and the wind is whipping. Started the fire at 3 a.m. heavy wind made it a challenge getting a draw up the chimney. After an hour or so, finally got it going. Warming things nicely now.

NWS says Denton is now down to 12 degrees, and I don't think it'll go any lower today.

Winter has arrived in central Texas. Talk about extremes. Take a look at the two pictures taken in our goat shed. The wind chill, and it is windy, is reportedly 9° to 19°. After spending the last 30 minutes out there I will go with the 9°. Warm.jpg Cold.jpg

Just an opinion offered, Consider Camp Tejas Christmas if Santa's Wonderland pricing and crowds tick you off.

Less commercial. More Christian message. Not sure if it's non-profit (I believe it is), but it only costs $8 to get in. Meals are extra, and so is the zip line.

It was a pleasant surprise when we went several years ago. The lights are amazing and not one santa. Emphasis is on the real meaning of Christmas.

Don, they have a new indoor light show with a great message that even my kids watched.

I love their dining hall. Especially on a cold morning with a hot fire blazing in the fireplace.
