Texas Fall/Winter thread!

Sorry Kyle, for taking so long to answer. Thanks for the greeting.
I've been lurking for years--enjoy reading just don't have much to say. Yes, I play the fiddle, mandolin, banjo, but mostly the guitar. I'm a frustrated Bluegrasser.
Use the fiddlearound name 'cause of the instrument and the way I waste time on the internet.
I need to update my profile. We live west of Bastrop and go to Giddings way too often to pick up online auction stuff.
Be there tomorrow, second time this week!

What auction?

Where in Giddings has online auction stuff?

Edit: I didn't see your post Kyle, we are thinking the same thing.

Couch bidder.com. Jody Kalmbach runs it. He used to do live auctions, but changed to online several years ago. They have the antique mall on Hwy 290W.

Now don't you boys start biddin' me up on my bargain treasures!

Passed thru Giddings and Fayette, Lee County, etc., on 77, today on my way to and from Waco. Honked, in both directions but, saw nobody on side of road waving.

Sorry about your Marine friend.

Fiddler, I used to bid on his stuff years ago. One time they had a framed picture for sale covered by a sheet of paper marked "adults only". I lifted it and there was an old black and white photo of two topless gals, on a hammock, at the chicken ranch.

Thanks Kyle, he was a great friend. He was, to the best of my knowledge, the only Member of the USMC Judge Advocate Corps to ever command a Marine Rifle Company. This was during the worst of the Tet Offensive.

D...m you ..... Marvin Zindler!

Don't have to worry about me bidding over you, I'm downsizing. What have been some of your best finds? Does Jody auction the stuff online from the Whistle Stop store or from estates? Where do you pick up the merchandise from? Are there minimum bids?

No wonder I missed you I was on Hwy21 standing by to wave.
Did you spot any Bluebonnets out yet?

   / Texas Fall/Winter thread! #7,629
Bluebonnets are showing in places along 290 near Brenham and a few are coming up at the farm on Hwy 237. Might be a good season for the wild flowers .

Dang! Sorry to have missed that. He had something related to the Chicken Ranch not too long ago that went way too high for me.

To answer Don, he sells out of the Whistle Stop and the items are his (he goes to Indiana a lot for the antiques) and a lot of estates. Bidding starts at $3.00 and increases by small amounts. He's about to get me out of collecting if the buyer's premium gets any higher--it's 15 per cent now.

As far as best buy, I have some good deals on golf clubs. I've been in the golf business for many years and always look for clubs I can use or sell easily. Found $300 driver and a $100 putter in Set I bought for $30. Put both in my bag! We pick up mostly at the store, but occasionally, we pick up at the estate. That's what we will do today. Bought a leather E-Z Boy recliner and a bunch of box lots for the shop.

I actually looked up and down highway 21 as I passed it.

Saw a few bluebonnets on 77 but, not many. Still early. Saw a lot of dog woods in full bloom.

I found some Blue Bonnets in TX. View attachment 543370
Picture was taken at Jim Inman’s place in 2010. Every year there was more and more. When they start blooming I would bet it is full now.

Spring Forward ..... Fall Back.

Don’t forget your clocks tonight.

I believe the only we clock we have that does not correct itself is the most important one, the coffee pot.

Yep, our Kuerigs do not self correct either and that’s important Jack!

   / Texas Fall/Winter thread! #7,637
Yes it is!

I make sure the coffee is ready when we get up, I hate waiting.

Our Ranch Keurig heats up at 4 a.m. so, whenever I get up just pop in a K-Cup and go.

I do beat it up ....... occasionally though.

I reset 13 clocks yesterday morning before my wife got up, so she thought she'd overslept.

I’m on Highway 21. Wave if ya go through these parts.

I was wavin’ and honkin’ just nobody wavin’ back? Well .... there was this one lady in a BMW. She honked and gave me half the peace sign. Guess it was because I was in cruise control, 70 mph, in the right lane?
