Texas Question for Bird

Yeah, Bill, The Collin Street Bakery is apparently known world wide. I know they used to claim they shipped fruit cakes to every country in the world, except those behind the iron curtain (maybe they ship them there, too, nowadays). Of course, some of those other pastries they have aren't bad, either./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Well, I guess maybe they are bad, too; bad for my waistline. And then that darned Russell Stover candy company opened a great big factory here and has a factory outlet store that doesn't do my waistline any good either./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Incidentally, for those who don't know what Bill & I are talking about, you can try http://www.collinstreetbakery.com or http://www.fruitcake.com. They both get you the same web site. I see they only plan to ship fruit cakes to 196 foreign countries this year.

Rick --
After you have dessert in Corsicana - drive the few miles west of Sealy to Columbus like bill said and have dinner at Schoebels. Good country cookin' on an all you can eat buffet. Take the business 71 exit, turn right, and you can't miss it. Fact is if you don't turn the wheel you'll drive right in the front door. (it's in the middle of where the road does a 'Y')
and as long as we're playing tour guide - look on a map and you'll see Shiner isn't far from Columbus and home to the best beer in Texas. This whole area was settled by Germans and other central Europeans back when. Have a fun, safe, and successful trip.

Rick, it's been a few years since I was down US-59 south of I-20, but I always did enjoy that drive. Of course, you have quite a few little towns with traffic lights to pass through, but there's no shortage of services available, food, fuel, & lodging. And if you should happen to take I-45 between Dallas and Houston going either direction, let me know when and I'll sure buy your dinner in Corsicana (I live about 20 miles west of Corsicana). In fact, we'd be glad for you to stop off for the night with us. We've got a spare bedroom.

But unfortunately, we had to sell our place down there and move back north for family reasons, so we now live about a mile south of Denton.
