My hydrostatic 325 locks it's rear left wheel constantly. Backing up in reverse seems to unlock it. The final drive housing on the left side gets hotter than the right side. I just changed the oil and it was clean and clear.
Any suggestions as to what may be causing this, and how I fix?

Sounds like you had a good result with help from one of the other forums. Would you mind sharing the fix with us in case it comes up again? Thanks.

Sure thing! In the other Forum it was suggested that the most likely problem was the brakes, and basically to check this from pedal to brake as the linkages may have been damaged/seized etc. So I disconnected all the linkages one by one, wife on tractor seat pressing pedal and it became obvious that the lever on the housing was very stiff and not being returned to 'neutral' by the spring at the pedal end. Half an hour's wiggling soon had it loose and smooth! The lesson for me here is to use the brakes more, I've had the 325 for 200 hours having brought it with 500 on the clock and I rarely use brake (hydrostatic reverse) or hand brake (I tend to drop the bucket on the ground for a 'hand brake') so the mechanism had gotten stiff.

Hugh
