Bird:

I noticed your last post was # 11,379.

I calculated that if you spent just 4 minutes per post, you would have put in a total of 45,516 minutes (helping us folks out here in tractor land), or 758.6 hours or almost 19 weeks at 40 hours per week.

I just wanted to say thank you. Your information is timeless and informative. You are a gentleman and a scholar; always.

Well said Joe! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Boy, have you got some time on your hands! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for the compliment, Joe. I never think to even look at how many posts I've made, much less calculate how much time I've spent. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I probably spent too much time on the Internet (most of it on this forum) even when we lived in the country, but since I had to come back to town, with high speed cable service, and don't find much on the TV I care to watch, I really spend too much time sitting here. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yes, thanks Bird. You give a lot of good advise and are a good guy without an extreme color bias /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yup, we are fortunate to have Bird as a member of TBN, knows practically everything and is always willing to share his knowledge and help us with our sometimes inane questions.

And he is certainly our most COLORFUL moderator... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks Bird, for all you do on the TBN site.

Bird; there is no way you can spend too much time on this forum dispensing your formidable array of knowledge.

Thank you.

An interesting comment from a guy with 2,378 posts at 4 minutes per post equals 9,572 minutes or ..... ; well, you get the idea. Just kidding of course.

Bird,

I agree with everyone here. You sure have been an asset to this group. No matter what the topic is you have an answer. Not just any answer but an answer of experience and wisdom. You have helped me out many times and I appreciate it. One of my goals some day when in Texas is to stop in and see you. I would just love to sit down over a soda and talk with ya.

Thanks for everything.

Thanks, Don, and I'd like to get down there again, but don't see it happening in the near future; maybe someday, though.

Murph, I'd be glad to visit with you down here. And I've only been to your state once, and really enjoyed it. We spent a few days along the shore of Lake Superior northeast of Duluth, then on up to International Falls before heading south again.

That is some a great area. Did you get up to Two Harbors to see the old fuel oil steam engine?

Yes and No. We passed through Two Harbors, and spent a few days at an RV park at Silver Bay, drove back in the car to look around at Two Harbors, but didn't know about the steam engine, so didn't see that. We found the Split Rock Lighthouse to be an interesting place.

The RV park at Silver Bay was right on the road, so we were out of sight of the water, but were told it was only a short walk through some woods to the water. An older couple from California was parked next to us and one evening, just after we'd eaten, they came over and asked if we'd like to walk down to the water with them. My wife decided to stay in the motorhome and wash the dishes, but I walked down there with them. Along the way we crossed a "wagon trail" I'd call it, and on the way back as we crossed that trail, looked down it just in time to see a black bear sow and cub come out of the woods to cross the trail about 40-50 yards from us. We stopped, and the bears stopped, looked at us, then went on their way. When we got back to the RVs, I went in and told my wife about seeing the bears and that she should have gone with us. She asked, "Weren't you scared?" and I told her, "Nope." She says, "Why not?" and I told her, "'Cause both of those folks that were with me are older than I am and I'm sure I could have outrun both of them." And she got mad at me. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I told her I'd have gone back after I got a gun out of the motorhome. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You missed one big hunk of iron. You have to stand next to this thing to appreciate it. The individual drive trains actually articulated as it is so long. I wished I had a better picture. That is my dad and me standing in front of here. She ran on fuel oil.

Murph, I'm sorry I missed that. If I'd known it was there, I'd have gone to see it. We went to museums all over the country. My wife was just in here and thinks we did see it, but I think she's thinking of a railroad museum we visited in Pennsylvania. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Her memory's bound to be worse than mine, right? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

And we were both fascinated by the tour of the Boise Cascade paper mill in International Falls. I just found a place on the Internet that lists it as one of the top 18 plant tours in the country and I can believe that.
