That is a pretty looking cylinder. I like to fab my own, but you can't beat Fitrite's turnkey systems. I think that is a fair price considering the labor that goes into it.

ovrszd,
I would hitch while that tractor is running also - except, I'm all alone out here & the nearest neighbor is 5 miles away. Any situation I happen to get myself into - I have to expect to get out of myself. I'm not talking about the occasional pinch, bump or knock. I don't carry my cell phone either - at best I get two bars and at least 75% of all calls are dropped before they go thru. - including 911. My phone bill shows 5 of 100 calls go to completion.

Its a PITA (get close, shutdown & connect) some times but a better alternative to a much more serious situation.

In any case - I've found the hydraulic top link to be a real helpful addition.

I'm alone 99% of the time when doing tractor work. I just don't understand why an engine dead tractor is safer than one properly parked and running. No big deal. Just thought there might be some reasoning that I missed. :)

Sounds like you need one of these on the end of your top link.

Not sure I have seen this before - Is it some fort of locking end link? How does it work?

I also noticed it is painted green so it must be $$$$$$$$

Well, yes that cat 3 top link is not cheap.

In Europe these are far more common. I'm actually going to put the bottom type and top link ends on both of my tractors this year. Cat 1 and cat 2 sets. Sort of anxious to see how they come out.

Sort of what Pat's imitates, but with ball swivels so that there is no additional pin wear and we are talking about the top link now, but the same principle applies to the lower links also.

So you would have a ball on each implement at the top link location. The hook just snaps over the ball and you are on your way. No pins to ever fool with again.

I'll see how good they actually work, may have to market them. :confused3:

I have wondered why there could not be a quick connect top link for a CAT 1, at least on the implement end. then all you would do is extend long, drop on top and pull short. Would snap in place like Pat's lower link.

Hope it works out for you.

The only problem I run into with my top link is that the support for the OEM non-hydraulic top link doesn't fit the Fit Rite one, so it just flops down. Makes it hard to extend it to the right length to match up to the implement. Too much, it gets stuck in the down position (can't get past the upper mount on the implement). Too little, and it just falls back down. One of these days i will modify the hook so it fits...just low on the priority list lately. I found the top and tilt to be a major benefit when using the 3 pt for any type of grading work. No excuse for not getting the exact right angles now. Very happy with my kit from Brian - can't be beat!

I removed the hook and instead use a bungee to hold up the hydraulic top link when changing implements. My L3200 has a bungee between the two lower arms, and I just take that off and make a temporary sling for the hydraulic top link.
