Hello,
I've been monitoring this site for a while & I have to say - you guys are so helpful & friendly (and very knowledgeble) - that it allowed an easily intimidated guy like myself to join and attempt to tackle a huge project!
But, I should post about that in old Ford section. I was raised on a farm in North Texas - spent many hours on a John Deere butane 720 (my dad called him "poppin' Johnny). I also helped local farmers with hay and peanuts, shredding etc... I remmeber using a Super C Farmall (fun to drive), and my neighbor's Ford 8N? - been a while back!
My mother is a native of Scotland (parents met when dad was in airforce, so I did get some exposure to British tractors & farming techniques - I do remember thinking "they don't waste anything!")
At 18, I left the farm, went to university - became a teacher for 11 years, but stress & the economy forced me to go into financial services. All that to say, I have been living in the city for years and years, until my father was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gherig's Disease) at which time I basically moved in with him (no longer on the farm, just a few acres).
In hindsight, mercifully - my dad did not suffer long with his illness & passed away recently. I then made a radical decision to keep his little house & property - get out of the rat race & remodel the house & repair his equipment. The house has been relatively easy!
I am very excited to be part of this community & I welcome any advice or just a note to visit a bit. Hope this wasn't too muchinfo. Thank you & have a great day!
P.S. - please feel free to advise me about anything, (forums, mechanics, etc...) I have no ego to bruise - just smart enough to know to listen to experience & wisdom.
