It's not the end of the world, my truck is far from pristine and I've put a few good dings and dangs in it myself. It's the principle of honesty that I feel strongly about. I could never ever do something like damage someone's property and not "fess up".

Reminds me of a story my 88 year old uncle recently told me. Seems some 40 years ago he was waiting in the grocery store parking lot for his wife to come out when he sees a guy back into a car a few rows over. The guy gets out of his car with pen and paper and leaves a note on the damaged car's windshield... uncle had a funny feeling about it, so he noted the offender's year, model, and license plate. Sure enough, after the guy leaves my uncle goes over and reads the note... it said "I backed into your car"... no name, nothing!

The lady who came out to get in her damaged car really appreciated the detail info my uncle could provide her. The perp thought he had fooled anybody who might have witnessed the accident... now that's scum!

Years ago when I was young in the 70's my friend would back out and ask if it were clear on my side. I would say yea keep going good more, etc.
The id reach down the side of the door and smack it one time , then say something like holy smokes lol
Just to see his reaction , It was to put it into drive and say lets get the heck out of here. LOL
So I think i knew where he was coming from. To this day I'm not sure if he he really would have left, (if it had been real) or if he was just playing along with my joke.

I used to have an old Mazda B2000 pickup (1984 model) that I drove to work. One day at lunch I went into a large hardware store and parked in an angled parking space with two rows of spaces facing each other. When I came out, someone's bumper had hooked mine as they backed out across from me. My bumper was bent out at a 45 degree angle from where it was bolted to its support to the end of the bumper. When I got home, I drove the truck up to a tree and carefully pushed against the bumper until I could not push it anymore. I backed up and jumped out to check the bumper. Sure enough, it was not bad at all. It stayed that way until I sold it.

I had a firebird that was smacked in parking lots over four times. And I do mean damaged to the point of body repair. One time it was even on video, the offender claimed they were not driving and the company who owned the truck, claimed they did not not know the driver. Another time the SO and I were waliking back to the car when the magnetic field pulled another driver into it. That car was just special.

Personal property ought to be respected. And public property ought to be respected just as well.

Remember, stay between the lines.

Apparently somebody mistook my "parking" as illegal. If somebody parked too close to the lines, in order to prevent somebody else from parking next to them, and I went ahead and parked in the spot next to them, but failed to give them enough room to enter their vehicle from the drivers side, then I would tend to think that I had actually parked legally in the center of my parking space, to which they were encrouching. People who want to take their half out of the middle of two spots tend to anoy me in a crowded parking lot, and I tend to want to make them wish they had just walked from the other end of the lot. Take your space and I will take mine, but don't take mine and yours both is my thoughts.
People too lazy to spend the time to either learn to drive or learn to park get no slack from me.
If your car/truck won't fit, complain to the manager and take your business elsewhere. I drive a tractor trailer and often have trouble when bob-tailing into parking lots. I just do a little extra walking instead of taking up two prime spots near the door. If the sign says "no trucks", expect me to take my money elsewhere, no matter what I am currently driving.
