Thanks for the idea as I thought with my gravel driveway and 6foot rear blade, gauge wheels is a wonderful idea for pushing snow.

Nice job! I know Henro and Freds used the wheels off of their landscape rakes. Did you do the same or are these wheels dedicated for the blade?

Dave

These are the same wheels off the landscape rake.

Zapper, Nice job, it should work well for snow or grading the drive. One of the senior members of the forum that isn’t around much these days used a rear blade with gage wheels for working gravel drives. He also added end plates to the blade which made it like a large box blade. Using one end plate let him pull gravel from the edge of the road and dump it in the center as he was crowning a drive. I always thought it sounded like a good system so I thought I would mention it to you. Looks like you have the fabrication skills and it might give you an idea to make your blade even more versatile.

Zapper you did a good job on that set of brackets. They look like you put a bit of planning into the design, and they look good enough to be factory installed. Thank's for giving us all more food for thought on the idea of adding gage wheels. I'm printing a picture of your design for future reference, Thanks!

Zapper,

"Built to last!" sure comes to mind when looking at your setup! Great installation.

I take it you made the brackets for use with the blade, and just swing the casters between the blade and rake, right?

Where did you get the tubing that the caster axle slips trough (the piece with the grease fitting in it)? Just wondering what exactly that tubing is called. The stuff I got that was called 1" ID actually was less than 1" ID and had to be drilled to 1" to make it work.

Great job. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Henro, Yes the brackets are made for the blade only. I do plan on switching the wheels between blade and rake (if I ever get one). I used the original spacers that came with the gauge wheel kit. I figured if I need more spacers I will have to come up with something. I know the local machine shop has thick wall tubing but not sure if it has the correct id or not. I have incorporated alot ideas from TBN and especially Henro cause I have a b2910 like him. Thanks

Very nice setup, Zapper. Looks nice and heavy duty!

You know... I think my putting wheels on my rear blade in anticipation of saving the new gravel on my drive while plowing snow is a direct reason for all the RAIN we had. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
