Yes, this is my first post. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone here who takes the time to post, answering questions and sharing information. I bought an L3410 six years ago when we bought this property, eleven acres in the mountains of NC that has an extremely steep and long drive to the top where the house is. The L3410 worked VERY well. One day while visiting the local Kubota dealer to pick up some filters, I saw the RTV. Had to have one. Sold the 3410 and got it. Kept it until this week when a very nice young couple drove down from PA to pick it up. In the mean time, my driveway has suffered. At least I think it has, as most of it is spread over my nieghbors property and everyone elses from here to the Gulf of Mexico. So, about three weeks ago, this is where you guys come in, I started researching and looking for a used tractor. Well, there are no used tractors. At least when you look at the prices there doesn't seem to be any difference in new and used. So I started looking at the different models and tried to keep my focus on what I needed and not what I wanted. Through this forum and some other minor copycat forums, I learned the B2920 had the horsepower I needed and didn't sit as high as the L3410. When I say steep, I really mean steep. I wanted something as low as possible. The B7800 was just a little bigger with one more HP, sat higher and at least 2 thousand more. The B3030, again slightly larger, one more horse and A LOT more money. I looked hard at all three and others. Sat on them, played with each, looked closely at all the options and decided on the B2920. Checked with my local dealer, told him I was probably going to buy a tractor today, give me your best price. He did. Said he could have the one on his lot, in the crate, put together and given to me in three days. I came home and checked my email because the day before, (this past Monday) late in the day, I had sent a "Build Your Own Tractor" request to a dealer in Kentucky. Sure enough, there's an email with an answer. $2500 less than my local dealer and "When do you want it?"
I emailed back and accepted the offer. This is around 4:45 in the afternoon. The next day, this past Wednesday, the delivery driver calls and asks if I can except a night delivery. "Sure, bring it on". "Okay, I'll be there tonight". TONIGHT! YOU'RE KIDDING! I couldn't believe it. The owner and I emailed each other back and forth several times getting the package details worked out, which scraper blade etc.. Very to the point and helpful with suggestions, he made this process very easy and all too painless. He got the tractor to me a day quicker than the dealer I can see from my house and saved me 2 grand even after the delivery charge.
Now, is the 29 horsepower enough for what I want a tractor for? The loader is useful and if at all can be afforded, should be bought along with the rig. But what this machine will be used for ninety percent of the time is scraping my driveway. Yesterday, I had the chance to try it. Wow, was I supprised. Yes, I'm happy with it. Yes, if the blade catches a large embedded rock, the tractor stops and the wheels keep turning. I have to let off, raise the blade a bit and keep going. Anything less than a bulldozer would do the same thing, my L3410 did. I find the B2920 feels much more secure in that it sits much lower than did the L3410. I've already done some things that were real freaky in the larger unit that were not nearly as scary with this one. I really like this tractor. And I'd like to thank Brady Barlow for making the purchase so easy. I read about him here on this forum and gained the courage to step out and buy from someone three hundred miles away. And on this Saturday morning, I'm about to go get on my new toy, start repairing my driveway, fill some pot holes on the shared part of our road and nobody can tell my tractor was purchased here or at the North Pole except me and my wallet. Yes, I'm one extremely happy tractorist this morning and had to share my feelings. Again, thanks to everyone for being here with your honest opinions, suggestions and encouragement.
